COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous new-school and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

12 oz from "Lifesource" Salem. $2.12 Clear orange IPA,typical, with a robust tight, creamy white head. Great wafts of hoppiness in the aromas resiny,floral,herbal..seemingly fresh Very bitter..mostly herbal, some fruitiness way in the back..surprisingly the malts are strong enough..caramel,hay,nuts..wow For all the terrific hop action this is quite well balanced on the tongue and the large alcohol content not really noticed..very well made! Great beer fabulous

Pours golden amber with lots of soapy head. Smells mostly of piney hops with just a touch of caramel. Tastes of hops, earthy, grapefruit and a bit of malt. Warming alcohol on the finish. Very good balance even with 100 ibus its not too bitter.

Big time IPA here. A nice copper colored pour with a medium sized white head. Piney citrus aroma; full flavor of hop bitterness with the citrus hop flavor. Very intense but also very good. A great beer to sip on but very dangerous with a 10% ABV.

Tap. Nice fluffy off-white head on an rusty light orange. Lovely pine, resin and grapefruit hop aromas. Nicely aggressive Hopsun he flavor: resin, cedar, and pungent. Very clean and tasty. Medium body with lively carbonation.

Strong aromas of earthy hops and some citrus. Deep golden color with a large foam top. Intense combination of strong hops and thick malts. Strong alcohol presence with thick molasses malt upfront with a bitter hop and alcohol filled finish. Overall, this is a heavy brew with intense flavors of caramel, black liquorice, molasses, bitter hops and tons of alcohol. This is an intense and heavy beer. Id give this an A rating.

Yes! Pours a nice golden amber on tap with decent white head and solid lacing. Aroma is all kinds of hops, citrus, pine, and a little sweetness. Taste is also mostly hops, but a perfect balance, leaving you with a satisfied mouthfeel. One of the best DIPAs I have had, and definitely the best thing Sierra Nevada that I have had.

Intense IPA, no subtlities here, not for faint hearted, true hopheads only. A really good IPA, worth stock piling.

Bold and aromatic nose, very hoppy but not overpowering. Great combination of flavors, cedar and fruit were most prominent.

12 oz bottle from New Seasons - Orange with a white head. Very strong hop aroma. Grapefruit and flowers. Very very hoppy as advertised, but Id like just a bit more malt to balance it out. Great beer, though.

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2012 2012 edition, 12 ounce bottle, pint glass. Pours with a typical dark golden to an amber hue. Most noticeable trait is the incredibly fresh and clean hop aroma. Initial warmth on the tongue upon tasting which is soon replaced by a smooth clean and incredibly fresh bitterness which is provided by the whole cone hopping process. Finishes with a sweetness that presents itself along with the finish. Overall, having tried many quality IPAs (Ruination, 90 Minute, etc.) I would place this near to the top of the list of IPAs that I have had the pleasure of trying, a quality beer and a fantastic experience. Honestly cant wait to get my next 4-pack.
