A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

12oz bottle in a snifter. Pours deep copper with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma strong of citrusy Sierra Nevada hops and a little bit of caramel malts. Could have more malts to balance it out, but this is a good imperial IPA. Smooth texture. Pretty good.

This is as close to as perfect of a beer as you can get. If you like IPA’s you are going to love this one! I’m a huge hop head, so when I saw this I had to have it since i’m also a large SN fan. By far the BEST IPA i’ve ever had, it doesn’t come close for me. Huge hop notes as soon as you open the bottle, followed by a nice floral citrus notes as well. On the palate it will take skin off your teeth with it’s massive hoppness. If you find this beer, buy it. If you find out where it’s at, run, don’t walk to go get it!

Bottle. Big caramel resiny malt taste with a ton of awesome bitterness. Great Imperial India Pale Ale. Tasty.

At Avery’s 2012 Strong Ale Fest. Darkish gold, kinda bronze, small foamy head. Aroma is super dank, kinda like copper with a grapefruit tone. Body is large but very smooth with minimal carbonation, bitter floral/pine hops with a pale cereal/caramel background. Pretty malty, with most of the hop tones being flavor, not bitterness. But quite bitter. Just seemed a little uncomplex.

Excellent DIPA. Great aroma and flavor - goes down easier than expected at 10% and 100IBU. Nice balance of sweetness and bitterness, but it definitely lets you know whose boss: the hops. An impressive offering from SN

On tap; pours an orange copper with very little head. Aroma is a bit spicy from the hops. Flavor is a rush of citra hop in a burst of resin-y goodness. Very good, but Id expect no less.

Draft at elliott bay pizza. Pours a brilliantly crystal clear medium gold with tons of nucleation columns and a nice creamy white head. Drippy lace. Big fresh pine and tangerine nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toast, caramel, grapefruit, pine, and tangerine on the mid palate. Oily, bright, and acidic. Long heavy bitter finish that stays crisp and resinous. Beautifully done.

Golden light amber. Pine resin nose. Medium bodied with assertive hops dominating the palate from start to finish. This is a great example of the style.

Tap @ Falling Rock, Denver, Pours deep golden with a offwhite head. Aroma of malt, sweet fruity, grapefruit. Taste is malt, caramel, sweet fruity, peach, melon, grapefruit. Medium body, soft carbonation. Rather sweet, but wellbalanced and hoppy IIPA. 100312
