A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous new-school and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Heidelbeer (8) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - OCT 28, 2016 does not count
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2017 Amateur Rating. Bought for 5.90 in Germany Bielefeld A dark orange beer with a nice medium sized head that stays almost until the end. Aroma is very pleasant, pine and tropical fruits, very hoppy. Tastes like strong resinous pine and hops, medium sweet maltiness, slightly alcoholic. At the end a long lasting slightly strong bitterness overwhelms your tongue. The more you drink the less bitter it gets. Carbonation is light to medium, texture is oily. In total its a very interesting and strong beer but its just not my type. I prefer the BeerCamp edition 2016.

Bottle, shared by heavylaevy at game night. Hazy golden, dense white head. Resinous pine and pithy white grapefruit, sweet pale malts, scathing aspirin bitterness, boozy undertones.

23.10.2016 - Bittersweet fruity fresh hop aroma with hints of remedy. Smooth full bodied hop oily palate. The hop oils are really rubbed in the tongue. They leave a honey-ish feeling (also with some sweetness). For the 100 IBU I expected some more harsh Magnum bitterness. There was no strong bitterness, just a lot of dry hopped hop in there. Brewdogs Hardcore IPA was much more aggressively hopped.

Pours clear Amber with a thin head and nice lacing. Nose is apricot, pine and resin. Taste is upfront bitterness, sweet resin then some lightly toasted malts in the finish. Booze is present but mild for the abv. Bitter as expected but quite well delivered.

An extremely intense and hoppy IPA or American Pale Ale. Rounder than other IPAs Ive tasted. More alcohol and more of everything. Hence the Imperial label.

12oz freshish import, bottled 06/2016, shared by impuritylaw, merci. - Trademark citrus rind boiled down into resinous honey and sweet quince jam with a lingering resin and quince peel bitter finish. Noticeable alcohol. Richer in layered hop oil density than the Torpedo (as it reaches our shores), pushing citrus resins back into fruit jam territory (canned pineapple, passion fruit jelly)...hence also overall with too sweet a dose of crystal/caramalts and high barley-wineish density for me.
