A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Backlog. Synchronizing with notes and Untappd.
Even though mine wasn’t extremely fresh the beer was great! Strong caramel and resin presence in both aroma and taste. Some pine on the finish.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2017 Bottle. Clear amber beer, white average head with decent duration. Aroma of resin and pine, with notes of peach, citrus and caramel. Taste is more than medium sweet, fruity, with noticeable caramel, and medium bitter, piney and resiny. Medium to full body, oily, a bit sticky texture, soft carbonation. Sweetness is too high and overwhelming for me, not fitting well, bitterness does not balance it out, nevertheless this is likable IIPA.

Bottle from Vinens Verden. Dark golden with a lasting off-white head. Malty aroma with ripe peach and orange peel. Sweet malty flavour with sweet fruits, pine and grapefruit peel. Strong bitter finish that tickles the throat.

JerryMeritt (11) - Pana, Illinois, USA - NOV 25, 2016
Poured at 45-50 degrees into a pint ale glass. Appearance dark effervescent amber with a 1/2 inch white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma caramel, sweetness with floral undertones, finishes with a slight skunky hop aroma. Taste initially hop bitter that evolves into a slightly sour citrus to floral tone. Finishes somewhat wet with strong hop bitterness lingering into slight citrus and strong floral-rose. A good imperial IPA without the mismatch of malts.

Zlotta (4135) - Hagen, GERMANY - NOV 20, 2016
0.355 l bottle from ’Rudat’, bottled in June 2016. Clear, dark amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, very fruity and a bit grassy aroma of pineapple, lemongrass, lychee, tea leaves and a touch of pine. Very sweet and malty, quite fruity, resiny and a bit grassy taste of orange jam, tea leaves, honey, pine, mango, pineapple and some lemongrass, followed by a rather long, quite bitter, very resiny and a bit dry finish. Full body, very oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Expected maybe the aroma to be even hoppier, but the bottle is unfortunately almost half a year old. Great beer though!

Klimaet (3085) - Aarhus N, DENMARK - NOV 18, 2016

hallinghansen (3471) - Odense SV, DENMARK - NOV 12, 2016
Bottle. Clear amber body with a medium white head. Hops, citric, grapefruit, caramel. Bitter fruity aftertaste.

Darwenus (1163) - Virginia, USA - NOV 11, 2016
Giant mouth twister. Pours bright, clear orange with a lot of foam. Legs for days. Big, aggressive hop aroma with the usual West Coast mega bitter notes... citrus, gym socks, cat pee. The flavor is that to the power of ten. This is a mean-ass beer. It rubs me the wrong way the right way.
