A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Zlotta (3273) - Hagen / Düsseldorf, GERMANY - NOV 20, 2016
0.355 l bottle from ’Rudat’, bottled in June 2016. Clear, dark amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, very fruity and a bit grassy aroma of pineapple, lemongrass, lychee, tea leaves and a touch of pine. Very sweet and malty, quite fruity, resiny and a bit grassy taste of orange jam, tea leaves, honey, pine, mango, pineapple and some lemongrass, followed by a rather long, quite bitter, very resiny and a bit dry finish. Full body, very oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Expected maybe the aroma to be even hoppier, but the bottle is unfortunately almost half a year old. Great beer though!

Klimaet (2574) - Aarhus N, DENMARK - NOV 18, 2016

hallinghansen (3192) - Odense SV, DENMARK - NOV 12, 2016
Bottle. Clear amber body with a medium white head. Hops, citric, grapefruit, caramel. Bitter fruity aftertaste.

Darwenus (1135) - Virginia, USA - NOV 11, 2016
Giant mouth twister. Pours bright, clear orange with a lot of foam. Legs for days. Big, aggressive hop aroma with the usual West Coast mega bitter notes... citrus, gym socks, cat pee. The flavor is that to the power of ten. This is a mean-ass beer. It rubs me the wrong way the right way.

SinH4 (4759) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - NOV 8, 2016
Bottle. Clear reddish-amber color with eggshell head. Aroma is piney, earthy, hops, some grapefruit, berries, caramel, toffee. Taste is sweet toffee, piney hops, bittersweet finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Not bad, a bit imbalanced.

RasmusOtt (2761) - Aarhus, DENMARK - NOV 2, 2016
Pours clear amber with an off white head. Aroma of resin, caramel malts, sweet grapefruit, plums, pine and over ripe citrus fruits. Taste is sweet with a hoppy bite. Notes of caramel malts, resin pine, sweet grapefruit, sticky syrup and citrus. Pretty bitter end and just extremely old school in every way.

mateuszk (2670) - Poznań, POLAND - NOV 2, 2016
Bottle. Aroma with gentle spruce notes and crystal malt. In taste malty, medium sweet, spruce and citrus flavour finished with big bitterness. Medium body, alcohol hidden. Fresh might be perfect.

ciocanelu (2523) - Timisoara, ROMANIA - NOV 1, 2016
Clear amber color with creamy, beige head. Aroma is quite malty with earthy notes, grapefruit peel and hop resin. Taste starts malty and sweet but gets quickly bombarded by intense resinous hops. Finish is really bitter and abrasive. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Not bad but too harsh for my taste.

Heidelbeer (40) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - OCT 28, 2016
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2017 Amateur Rating. Bought for 5.90€ in Germany Bielefeld A dark orange beer with a nice medium sized head that stays almost until the end. Aroma is very pleasant, pine and tropical fruits, very hoppy. Tastes like strong resinous pine and hops, medium sweet maltiness, slightly alcoholic. At the end a long lasting slightly strong bitterness overwhelms your tongue. The more you drink the less bitter it gets. Carbonation is light to medium, texture is oily. In total its a very interesting and strong beer but its just not my type. I prefer the BeerCamp edition 2016.

Dedollewaitor (16158) - Odense, DENMARK - OCT 26, 2016
Bottle @ Vinens Verden, Odense. Pours hazy dark orange with a creamy white stable head. Mild yeast- baking dough, lots of piney and grapefruity hops. Petroleum. Sticky sweet and bitter finish with a bit of alcohol warmth.
