COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Piney and citrusy hop aromas with honey and caramel notes as well. Clear orange-gold with a mostly lasting, white head. Dry with fruity and bitter hops, cushioned by a heavy, malt backbone. Medium bodied and very smooth.

Pours a hazy orange color with a 1 finger heads and sticky lacing. Strong Floral, Citrus, Dry and Piney hops all upfront followed by a caramel sweetness. Flavor is strong floral/piney/citrus hops and some grapefruit and caramel maltiness. The hoppiness is strong upfront but it becomes even stronger on the back of the palate. Body is heavy and the carbonation is moderate and lends to the flavor. Excellent Imperial IPA overall, cannot wait to have this again!

Beautiful orange color with a sharp hop nose. Nice lace from a dissipating cream head. A bit of sweetness and then bitter hop. Kind of medicinal. Good not great. Amateurish to me. When breweries brew a line of beers it seems you can taste the similarity between them. The base beer ingredients. This beer has that distinct Sierra Nevada quality. I love variety and it doesn’t make you want to try all their beers when you know basically what they will taste like. But I am a hophead and this one is highly rated.

Bright deep orange pour with a thinning white head. Aroma is light fruit. Flavor is strong hop, pine, some orange & moderate malt. Finish is dry, quite malty and lingering. Wow, what an IPA! ---Rated via @jxray76 on Twitter

On tap at HOTB. Orange clear pour. Not a ton of head. Slight aroma of hops but mostly alcohol aroma. Smooth mouthfeel.

Very bitter. A bit floral. Sweet and carmel malt. Has that hop alcohol bite like hopslam but doesnt pull it off nearly as well. Decent but i really dojt see what the big deal is.

Bottle. Clear orange gold. Looks nice. Hop/pine/fruit aroma. Taste is heavy pine and hop as well. Fairly smooth for being a heavy hitter but slightly astringent in mouth.

Like Torpedo on steroids - but better. Grapefruity, resiny (if those are words) deliciousness. This is a great everyday DIPA. Need to get another keg if this.
