A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous new-school and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Bottle. Finally checking this off the list. Green apple and sweet orange citrus flavors. Big malty caramel body and mouthfeel. A little funky a little herbal and grassy aroma. Finish is grapefruit bitter. This sort of runs the gamut of hop profiles for me.

From bottle to oversized Sierra Nevada snifter. Clear sunburst orange with white head. Huge hop aroma bitter and herbal leafs sweet candy aroma. Sweet caramel with an over pouring amount of hops. Very sweet and very bitter. Not a balanced beer but its also not supposed to be.

Snifter pour, bottle. Comes out a vibrant amber color with very thin, quickly dissipating head. Hoppy aroma, but not the strongest I've had. Tastes similar to flower power. Goes down smooth with a nice biting finish.

Bottle. This is what Im talkin people, this is a kick ass west coast style hop bomb. I love it, huge hop citrus aroma and big flavor profile. I taste grapefruit, pine, hints of floral etc. perfect! If I need to keep it real, I would say the ABV is a smidge to high. But great bitter dry finish, loved this one.

Bottle from Hippo Beers. Big big beer obviously. I knew from the moment i poured it i wouldnt dig it. Weird golden colour I had noticed with other beers I didnt like. Intense floral hop aroma, pretty good. But eh taste is not my thing. Just too much in the competitive sense. Overpowering like a heavy sauce. No.

This is a really nice IIPA, with a medium copper pour and floral citrus nose. Flavor starts out very nicely. No surprise that the hops are the main act here. Initial flavors are nice with a balance and citrus taste, before becoming a more assertive and resin hops flavor. To some extent, this feels like a "hoppy for the sake of hoppy" beer, but its more flavorful and balanced than many that meet that definition.
