COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

bottled. pours gold with a large off white head. aromas of pine, grapefruit, resinous hops and caramel. pine dominates. alcohol not overwhelming but seem to cause an interesting change in hop flavor. too much carbonation. finishes as most hoppy beer do with pine/spruce bitterness. decent beer.

Aroma is sweetish with lots of fruits, especially mango. Flavour has, rather nice hops, some sweetish, exotic fruits and some caramel. Good, although a bit on the sweet side.

A great well made beer. If you are a fan of hoppy beers this one does not disappoint . Pours a golden double ipa hue with a slight head, Hops start in from first sip just the way you expect. This is one of those beers you want to get fresh. Nothing over powering and well balanced. A little on the sweet side but helps carry the hops throughout the beer and keep the flavors consistent . the resinous of the hops keep this beer exactly where hop heads like myself enjoy them!

Pours a cloudy golden amber with a thick off-white head. Aroma is pine with a sweet and creamy quality. Taste is briefly of grapefruit that gets overwhelmed almost immediately by heavy resinous pine. It finishes with an almost astringent bitterness. Definitely "heavy duty".

why do people like their hoppy beers to be all bitterness, thick syrupy sweetness, and oxidized hop aromas? SN really shit the bed with this thick gloopy mess of hop syrup. Couldn’t finish the glass because it felt like motor oil going down. Hops do not shine in high gravity beers! stop losing sight of objectivity for the hype!

From a 355ml bottle (2012 edition)on 10/7/2012. Pours a clear dark golden with a medium head. Has a beautiful aroma of passionfruit, citrus fruit, melon, mango, caramel and honey, with some strong piney resiny hop notes and some floral touches. The flavour is both intense and explosive - it begins with a super sweet honey caramel malt backbone, followed by an array of fruits and marmalade. This is balanced by a massive grapefruity, resiny hop assault which coats the mouth and refuses to budge. The texture is syrupy and smooth, which makes it go down the hatch with ridiculous ease. An incredible beer and the best imperial IPA I’ve had to date.

Bottle. My only problem with appearance is lack of head. There is no head, but good lacing. Aroma is solid pine hops with a strong malt backbone. I get the grassey notes and a tiny bit of citrus/grapefruit . Palate is smooth considering the ABV. Flavor is bitter finishing dry.
