COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous new-school and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Love this stuff, not sure why my review for it disappeared but whatever. One of my favorite readily available IIPAs.

Tap at butcher and boar. Light copper with medium white head and excellent lacing. Pine hop nose. Sticky resin taste, very crisp, full flavored, excellent balance. Heavy on the pine bitterness, not much citrus. This is really well done, almost an optimum dipa.

Bottle from Brause-Sydikat. Extreme intense viscous hop. Great floralness and depth. Fruits, hop oils, slightly fruity-sweetish, nice smooth grain, hints of sourness, moderate to intense bitter. Extreme hop fruity, pine, resin, green hops. Long intense floral sticky hop oily aftertaste. Great brew!

semi murky copper gold with a thick off-white head. Big grapefruit citrus and tropical aroma. Big tropical fruit, tangerine citrus flavor. From the middle onward creeps up to a substantial bitter, but not off-putting. Then slowly fades with the tropical taste lingering. Big beer. Good beer!

Draft at source. NC. Strong grapefruit aroma and flavor. A moderate amount of caramel that gets in the way of the hops. A more traditional DIPA. Ok.

Solid well rounded iipa. It's been a few years since I've had hoptimum. It was in those fat bombers then. This was good. Aroma. Taste. Drink ability. Not overly sweet. Favors crisp not muted. Love Sierra Nevada. Fresh too. Bottled 20 days ago. Coming from Chico or NC that's pretty good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

First tried at Moped Motorhead s new apt on W str. (where the tenant straight across from him, a.k.a. and self-titled "mean black bitch" runs that section of the neighborhood and beats up short skinny white dudes and beats her phone against siding of building. (had to be there kind of moment)

Aroma is not very strong, some citrus but not too strong. Very sweet beer that goes straight to extremely bitter. So bi-polar that it is quite compelling. Nice IIPA :)

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2017 2017 Vintage: Pours a mostly clear orange color with a two finger off white head. The aroma is very hoppy, pine, hop resin, citrus notes, bready malts. The flavor is the same as the aroma. At first you get hit with a wave of hops and pine and feel the 100 ibu but the finish is citrusy and bready and very well made. The mouthfeel is heavy and abv hidden well.
