UPDATED: JUN 14, 2012 Hops, hops and more hops, but damn this beer just rocks...kinda like a less refined Pliny the Younger. So many tropical fruits, cedar, lavender, lilac, rose, jasmine, apricot, kumquat, manderin orange, tangerine, and just the right amount of malt to back up all those flavors. My absolute favorite DIPA. Nimrod979 (212) - Hagerstown, Maryland, USA - FEB 4, 2011
Just picked this beer up Tuesday. Couldn’t wait any longer to pop open this baby. Pours a brilliant orange-copper with a beautiful pillowy oft head that just floats on top of this exciting brew. You can smell the hops with this beer just sitting on the coffee table. No need to bury your nose in this one but when you do, you’re in for a fantastic resin, floral and citrus treat. Theres so many different kinds of hops to give it a complex aroma and flavor. It starts with some sweet grapefruit and floral flavors then gets overtaking by a huge wave of hops bitterness than stays on the tongue for awhile. Can kind of detect the alcohol in the finish. Has kind of a chewy texture. Sticks to the glass like glue. This is just a phenomenal beer. Great job by Sierra Nevada. Any hop head will love this intense brew. Probably one of the best Double IPA’s I have ever tried in my entire life. Aroma and appearance are awesome with its light and tan color and its full cone hop aroma. Mmmmmmm, I need one right now....haha! Taste’s like you drank the best IPA ever and now your going to eat a bowl of fresh full cone hops. YUM! Overall, the best IPA ever, hands down! nobeerandnotv (12) - eagan, Minnesota, USA - MAR 1, 2012
Very floral head citrus and hoppy resinous smell. You can tell that this beer is packed with wonderful hoppiness first sip is a hop head dream balanced very nicely not overly bitter has a very nice lingering finish I love Sierra Nevada! RIXBREW (11) - USA - MAR 18, 2012
Cannot compare to Pliny the elder as I have not had it yet but this is the ultimate imperial ipa with hopslam and breckenridge 471. Purchased in bottles this year had on tap last year at sugar maple in Milwaukee. A delicious explosion of well balanced hop bitterness and classic piney grapefruit flavors. I'd be curious to know what the proprietary hop blend is but I'm definitely tasting a citra hop influence.

Delicious aroma. Bitter than sweet than back to bitter again. It is pours nicely with a creamy white head. Very high on alcohol~very dangerous.

Tastes like Pilsner Urquell from the early ’70s,but with 10.4% alc./vol.
A miracle brew from the masters in Chino. It’s a turbo-pilsner that will soon earn uber-praise from the CZ republic.Congrats on your well deserved perfect rating.2012 version. BeeriedEyed (212) - USA - JUN 15, 2012
One incredible delight. Out of this world flavor. Sipped very very slowly but very very rewarding. A must for any IPA lover. Saodwyer (10) - Elk Grove, California, USA - JUN 16, 2012
A delicious, full bodied Imperial IPA. Takes Torpedo to the next level. Buy it in a 4 pack next time you get a chance. mkel07 (6546) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JUN 29, 2012
355ml bottle. Does it get any better than this, I think not. Big dense head of foam sitting atop a honeycomb amber base. The aromas assault your nose the second the cap comes off. In the mouth this beer is smooth and leaves a resinous coating. Top marks for a great beer.
