Comes out of the tap a rich, warm sable - while it is pouring, it is seriously bubbly and fizzy, a lot like Guinness. The end result is a mouth-watering crater of warm sable-brown with a thick, fine-bubbled, pale creamy-tan head that hangs around for quite a while. Smoky aroma has subtle notes of licorice, molasses and roast coffee. Creamy flavor has notes of caramel, roast quality coffee and molasses with hints of licorice and semi-sweet chocolate. Texture is smooth as a baby’s butt; body is not the best, but the fine fizz adds life. As good as Guinness? Better? I leave it up to you, Gentle Reader - er, Drinker. rmussman (1701) - California, USA - JUL 8, 2013
Sampled over the weekend at the Rogue Ale House. A super beer. Talk about appearance and palate to the max. So smooth and as close to a guiness appearance as I have seen in a long time. Smooth roasted flavors were another fantastic part. bigabe (194) - California, USA - FEB 1, 2011
This is Sierra Nevada’s Guinness clone. It pours like Guinness... deep, dark, reverse cascading head. It is a beautiful beer to behold. It was brewed for a Celtic festival in Nevada County, CA. Keg only.
The aroma is of fruity, tropical chocolate and light coffee, with some sweet caramel malts. Flavor is pretty much the same - complex roasted coffee flavors, chocolate, tropical fruits and roasted malts. This beer coats your mouth and forces you to take in the whole bouquet of flavors.
This is a well executed nitrogen stout. I’d take it over Guinness any day. Two bad only two places on the planet have it on tap. One is the brewery itself, the other is Matteo’s Public in Nevada City, CA. And Matteo’s only has a keg left. Go get it! I don’t think they’ll ever make it again. A very creamy head to this. Smooth drinking, and not really all that dry, this is a nice stout.

This is about as good as most nitro stouts I have had. Big fluffy head, black liquid. A bit of roatsy malt aroma, moderately bitter but well balanced flaor. Velvety smooth. Very good. Beerenberger (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - MAY 27, 2014
Aroma of roasted malts with caramel and chocolate notes. Pours a creamy rich black with a handsome finger tan head and abundant lacing. The taste is chocolate with carmel notes and a satisfying bitter finish. Full body and medium carbonation. Smooth round mouthfeel. Overall, easy to drink and very tasty.
