"this turned out to be just what they’re calling it. a nice, dark, flavorful, mellow session ale. roasted grain and coffee with a hint of cocoa in the aroma. smooth body. light for a dark beer. flavor much the same as the aroma, which was easily drinkable and fairly flavorful. fairly clean stout with little lingering aftertaste. 2012-liked it even more this time around - stood out even amongst great beers three times it’s strength."

Tap at North Bar Leeds. Black pour, with a frothy head, well carbonated, Aroma of chocolate malts & some fruity hops. Fully flavoured. Thin mouthfeel and pleasant to drink, DYCSoccer17 (3698) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 4, 2012
4 ounce sample on tap at Rubicon. Light chocolate and roasted nose with some light sweetness present, too. Pretty aromatic. Modestly transparent mahogany body with a medium off-white head. A little light and transparent for my liking. Starts with some light burnt and astringent malt character. More roast and chocolate follow later. Somewhat ashy and metallic. Flavorful, but a touch astringent. marcus (10227) - Sacramento, California, USA - SEP 29, 2012
On tap at Rubicon, Sacramento. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head and a coffee aroma. There is a medium-bodied treacle flavor with a coffee finish. Pretty tasty for a low ABV beer. bhensonb (15195) - Woodland, California, USA - SEP 29, 2012
Tap at the Rubicon. Pours black with a tan head. Aromas of smooth burnt malt. Medium body. Flavor is "creamy", smooth, bitter burnt malt with chocolate notes. Very tasty and easy to quaff.

On tap @ Sierra as part of sampler. rather smokey for a cream stout; hints of porter. J_man (997) - Tustin, California, USA - MAR 18, 2010
On tap at the Sierra Nevada taproom. This beer reminded me very much of a schwarzbier style lager. Black as night, but light as a feather. The description on the beer menu is very accurate. Good roasty flavor with hints of chocolate. A nice, light, easy drinking stout that would be refreshing on a hot day (or any day). Definitely not what you want if you’re looking for a traditional, heavy, thick stout.
