COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We aged our Narwhal Imperial Stout in barrels formerly used to mature rum. The influence of the wood transforms the rich malt flavors. deepening them with notes of molasses, raisin, and burnt sugar.

This was shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Pours jet black with a big foamy tan head. Nose of chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, vanilla, and rum. Full body. Smooth mouthfeel which is amazing considering the high ABV. Flavor shows chocolate, dark ripe fruit, vanilla, coffee, and light citrus. The finish brings coconut, and wood. Finishes with chocolate. Alcohol appears in my neck but not the taste. This is amazingly easy to drink and complex. A really great beer.

Corked and caged bottle from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. A black beer that has just a little tan foam. Rum jumps out in the aroma during the pour. The flavor also has some fairly big rum but it is well balanced on several legs. Chocolate is rich and sweet, vanilla, earth, dark malts, and some alcohol. A hint of floral hop notes and tobacco. Then cinnamon and coconut. This beer is so very filling and it feels like I have eaten a large meal after drinking a bottle. This is very good. I love the complexity and the balance of it.

Bottle, opaque black beer, huge walnut colored head faded quick. Aroma is molasses, rum, cookies, vanilla, toast. Taste is vanilla, cookies, molasses, hint of coffee, black currant. Palate is smooth, but surprisingly not super thick, carbonation almost flat. This has that narwhal layer of hops, but it also has an earthy, almost mushroom fungus flavor.

Odd duck. Kind of hovers between being really tasty and just kind of ok. One taste I think there is too much black patent and the next taste is just deliciously complex and then again the next taste there’s too much black patent and lather rinse repeat.

750 mL bottle shared with ebone1988 and Gus at The Spicetree Trimpeel Grand Opening. The pour is a thinner black brown color with a decently thick khaki colored head and a spot or two f lace. The aroma is very rum barrel forward. Lots of booze and sweet oak with the rum. Light roast and sweet booze. It’s a little more single dimensioned than I’d care for. The flavor is much of the same. Nice malts, heavy rum barrel and alcohol, not too terrible. The mouth feel is light amen watery with a decent carbonation and a lingeringly boozy and sweet oak finish. Not bad.

Bottle shared with koleminer20 and Gus at the Spicetree trimspot grand opening. Aroma is dark grout, roasted malt, chocolate, rum, barrel. Appearance is dark dark brown, poured thin, light brown head. Taste is roasted malt, booze, rum, barrel, chocolate, dark fruit, eh. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy body, light carbonation, booze and roasted malt aftertaste. Overall, it’s just ok.

Black with a tan head. Medium full body. Roasted malts, raisin, chocolate, burnt brown sugar, toast, slight rum notes. Sweet notes throughout. A really amazing version of the already great Narwhal. Rum > whiskey.

Aroma is vanilla, chocolate, barrel, alcohol, caramel, lesser notes of darker fruit and soy. Full bodied, sweet, creamy, quite drinkable. Really similar to the bourbon barrel version.
