12oz bottle poured into a snifter. Theres a slight acetone aroma initially, but this fades, and is replaced by cocoa, coffee, raisin, and sweet bourbon caramel with a light, faint hint of wood. It pours jet black with a viscosity to the pout and topped by a brown, frothy head that has moderate retention and leaves a light, messy lace. The taste is a high bitter cut by a medium high sweetness that strengthens late to balance it out. The beer is thick and creamy with a soft foamy carbonation and a full body thats woody with dark chocolate and raisin notes and turns smokey with caramel and resin before finishing with a smokey pine and roasted character with a sharp bourbon warmth that ducks away quickly and turns to dark chocolate raisins. The aftertaste is smokey wood, caramel and chocolate nuts with a mild lingering quality.

Bottle to glass. Pours a thick deep black color with a light brown head. Tons of roasted, slightly burnt malts, with dark fruits, light anise. Overall a very solid and easily accessible imperial stout.

Pours an opaque black with with a small brown ring that leaves sticky lace on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, dark cocoa, molasses, touch of alcohol and coffee. Taste is a complex blend of sweet dark chocolate, coffee, bitter roasted malts, alcohol and some sweet molasses on the finish... Great imperial stout that doesnt seem as big as its abv.

12oz bottle. 2015 vintage. Appearance: Black and opaque with a khaki brown foam cap that lingers a bit. Aroma: Light roasted coffee with some raisin and cherry notes. Somewhat subdued. Taste: Deep, rich malt sweetness with a strong roasted edge. Some dark fruit and sherry notes intertwine, with noticeable bitterness accentuated by slightly astringent roast. Mouthfeel: Medium with some viscosity and a light to moderate carbonation. Touch of alcohol warmth. Finish: Slightly slick on the tongue, with a touch of dark fruit and a strong lingering roast. Overall: You can tell this is a fresh version, with a strong roast component dominating the overall profile of this beer. Aroma is maybe a little subdued to some other imperial stouts, but overall very good. Over time Im sure this will improve as the roasted edge softens into some fruitier flavors.

Tried at Craft Beer Market YEG. Sierra Nevada tap takeover Nov 18. Huge roasted malt and chocolate flavours with a very crisp and smooth finish for a stout. Yum!

Pours viscous, pitch black and completely opaque with a two finger mocha head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Decent retention with streaks of soapy lacing left behind. Roasted malt aroma with a stronger hop presence than I expected. Floral and earthy with resinous, grassy pine character countering the burnt malt, coffee bean and oatmeal notes. I shouldnt be too surprised coming from SN but the hops are a bit too prominent for this style, in my opinion, taking away from the robust malt profile a bit too much. Even after warming up considerably, the nose is still pretty tame on this beer. Medium bodied with a deeply roasted dark malt flavor thats complimented by a bitter, earthy hop presence that lingers into a slightly boozy finish. The hops arent as strong as the nose hints at but theres still prominent in the flavor with sticky pine needle bitterness and subtle citrus. The dryness of the hops compliment the bitterness of the roasted malts. Hints of burnt toast, oatmeal, bitter dark chocolate and espressoo/coffee bean followed by lighter chocolate and alcohol sweetness. The high is relatively well masked but theres definitely some warmth lingering in the finish. Overall, this is a pretty good stout but the strong hop character hinders the malt flavors a bit too much for my preference. Decent but nothing out of the ordinary. Great value for the price of the four pack though.

Poured jet black with a finger of tan head. Aroma of dark malts. Tastes of choclate coffee and a hint of licorice. As I am drinking this there is a taste of alcohol in the back of my throat. Very nice Imperial Stout.
