Narwhal Imperial Stout is the latest beer in Sierra Nevada’s High Altitude Series. This malt-forward monster is bold – with notes of baker’s cocoa, molasses, and dark roasted coffee. This massive imperial stout is incredibly complex, rich, and intense and will develop in the bottle for years to come.

Style: Imperial Stout
Hops: Magnum, Challenger
Malts: Two Row Pale, Chocolate, Honey, Carafa, Roasted Barley

Bottle from Meditrina. Black with tan head and some lace. Molasses coffee cocoa aroma with some spicy woody hops and a touch of booze. Rich coffee chocolate but mostly molasses sweetness with subdued fruit and hint a of licorice. Woody spicy hops in robust roasted finish. Full body. Fucking excellent. Pretty much what I hope for from an impy. And almost gone.

Aroma chocolate, coffee, roasty,
Appearance black, brown foam,
Taste medium sweetness, medium bitterness,
Palate full body, thick feel,
Overall a really nice thick stout that has great flavor and mouth feel . I would suggest this beer to a friend.

Bottle from Cellarbrations Hamilton Hill Tan head that didn?t last long. Malty and oily with chocolate notes. Excellent Imperial Stout that I would buy again.

Excellent seasonal stout. One of the highest on my list. Pricey and hard to find, but worth the effort.

Flaska systembolaget. Svartbrun vätska med gyllenbrunt skum. Maltig och rostad doft med lite järn och kaffe. Kraftfull smak av kavring, bitter choklad, rostad malt och lite soja. Munkänsla åt det bittra hållet. Värmande alkohol

Nice black pour with a tan head, not much retention or lacing. Excellently balanced flavor delivered within a smooth creamy full body palate. Love this beer.

A great beer. A nice creamy body. Taste is molasses, a bit of chocolate. High alcohol hidden well

DATE TASTED: January 8, 2016... GLASSWARE: Mad Elf tulip... OCCASION... enjoying another Friday night of Shark Tank... APPEARANCE: midnight black body that is as dark as its label... brown, creamy head rings well and holds steady despite the 10+% ABV strength ... AROMA: mocha, cappuccino, peat, sugary sweets, and chocolate... roasted malts mix with some woody scents and leafy accents... PALATE: smooth, smoky and full-bodied... the weight is palpable but incredibly light on the tongue... the aftertaste is slightly alcoholic, but also malty and weighty... TASTE: chocolate and peat are rapt in holy Arctic wedlock here, with coffee, toasted malts and some hidden citric elements make for a beer worth sipping... big, bold and flavorful.... OVERALL: another Sierra Nevada winner? Indeed...the strength and life of this imperial stout challenges other 12 oz. and some cork and cagers too....maltier than the usual imperial, and a dessert in itself...

Bottle 355 ml. Pours deep black with a dense dark tan head. Looks excellent. The aroma is a bit thin and doesn’t provide much clues to the taste, mostly sweetness. Taste is initially a bit too boozy to be pleasant. Once this settles, the caramel, coffee and leather notes arrive in style. Like! On the whole very good but a bit unbalanced.

Ok typical stout scents and color. After having several other stouts tonight this doesn't seem as complex as the others. I always seem to be disappointed with Sierra Nevada beers and this is no exception. It's good, but not the standout that everyone claims.
