Poured at GABF, and yes a bold monster. Rich malt forward and such a delight from this brewery. Always liked the pale but this is a cut above. choclate roast and all the above. Such a good IMP STOUT/

Bottle. Dark as a lobbyist’s heart; no light is getting through this baby. Head is creamy, medium-grained, and brown, with sticky lace. Nose is coffee, cinnamon, baker’s chocolate, herbal smoke, and candied figs. Heavy, boozy bitterness up front; it’s like popping chocolate bourbon balls while smoking a good maduro cigar. Finish is like chugging espresso. Really intense, but still well balanced.

Aroma of smoked malt, molasses and cocoa. Great looking ebony colored beer with a small lasting well laced, tan colored head. Dry feel with a taste of malt and molasses with a smokey phenolic finish.

taster @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Opaque brown/black with a light, tan head cover, specks of lace. Taste is thick syrupy malt that adds a bit of a bitter edge in the palate, then moves to obvious warm alcohol in the finish. A strong sipper, although not a presentation I would pick - too much like cough syrup without complexity. Average.

Black pour with a thick tan head which settles down and sits as a nice 1/2 cm head. Chocolate, cola, roast, coffee aromas. Taste is coffee and dark chocolate bitterness, roasty, thick oily body.

Bottle. Pours dark dark with a minimal head and minimal lacing. Flavor is sweet and bitter. Aroma of chocolate, licorice, and cough medicine. Thick thick mouthfeel. Bitter finish. Good effort SN, now go back to making IPAs.

Pours black with a thin caramel head that leaves very little lacing in the glass. Aroma is a tad sweet with notes of dark chocolate and malt. Medium carbonation in the mouth but the taste s fabulous, with a bit of chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. This is so good!

Nice impy. Thick black pour. Coffee and chocolate in the nose. The taste has a pleasant bitter finish to a sweeter start. Again, real rich cocoa and espresso flavors. A little smack of vanilla. Lightish body for an imperial stout that made for a nice sipper. Good beer.

"Excellent! Pleasant surprise when i saw this in a 4-pack when I had assumed I’d be plunking down $8 for a big bottle. Big roasted malts on the nose, with some evergreen hops, dark fruit, cocoa, and coffee. Flavor much the same after a big but very very smooth mouthfeel. 4.1-42 on this one - I’ll start low but may up my score with a bottle to myself. Yet another hit for Sierra Nevada!"
