Draft. Pours black. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is similar to aroma with a long lasting bitter aftertaste. EdKing (2584) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 13, 2014
2013 bottle. Opaque very dark brown, tan head. Nose is lots of dark fruit, prune, plum, raisin, chocolate, milky coffee, roasted malt, bit plasticky, cocoa dusky. Taste is dark dried fruits, prune, raisin, sultana, plums, but the cocoa chocolate is quite dominating. Malty with dark fruit. Decent but not my favourite imperial stout style. Bit to much cocoa and lactic plasticky. gsmitty80 (2130) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 10, 2014

Nice offering from sierra nevada. Dark brown pour with a bit of a tan head. Light malty nose. Dark roasted chocolate and coffee. Alcohol content hidden by flavor but this packs a punch. A bit to much carbonation for me. But overall quite tasty. DoToBi (8) - AUSTRALIA - JUN 24, 2014 does not count
Not too much bitterness on the palette, neither is it too sweet. Nicely balanced. And excellent value for the price. Might just become a regular. rodenbach99 (4572) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 24, 2014
Bouteille (merci Patrick). Un liquide brun presque noir. Un nez de chocolat, de tabac avec une superbe amertume qui transperce. Une bouche amère de chocolat rôti, de café torréfié et de houblon. Un autre superbe produit de la part de Sierra Nevada. TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 23, 2014
Pours almost black like oil with tan head. Cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, molasses, and some caramel on the nose; follows onto the palate. Very complex, very smooth. Full bodied. generallee08 (772) - New York, USA - JUN 19, 2014
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 10.2% and the year it was brewed. (2013) There is a short description of the beer as well. Appearance: It has a very dark black body which is completely opaque. From the slow pour I got a tall tan colored head that settles down fairly quick but makes tons of cool lacing on the glass.
Smell: The aroma has a mild character with some modest sweet and roasted maltiness.
Taste / Palate: The mild aroma gives way to a big bold full bodied malty sweetness on the tongue. There are notes of caramel, toffee, molasses, and raisins. It’s 10.2% abv is noticeable but mellow and adds to its overall character. The palate feels smooth with light carbonation in this big heavy offering from Sierra Nevada. It finishes slowly with just a touch of earthy hops.
