Thick black brown no reaction to light with a creamy tan head. Scents of raw dark chocolate. Great bitter chocolate taste with a light creaminess. Dark that fades to a little bourbon bitterness. Good Strong Dark. DSG (14764) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - MAR 7, 2014
Bottle. 2013 bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Black with a frothy light brown head. Roasty aroma with coffee liqueur, a bit of alcohol and a bit of cocoa notes. Bittersweet flavor, roasty, with espresso, dark chocolate, liqueur notes and a bitter finish, roasty and hoppy. Rounded-mouthfeel. Very good. beerandbeyond (708) - ISRAEL - MAR 4, 2014
12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass.
Opaque black with a big, thick, mouse-like flavorful (and alcoholic!) mocha head.
Nose is loaded with dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, brown sugar and carobs. Some hop earthiness and faint ash.
Rich chocolate flavor, creamed coffee liquor, heavy roast, malt sweetness and medium bitterness. Faint tartness.
Full body, perfect soft carbonation, a bit too alcoholic, quite heavy but complex. Cool.

Pours motor oil black and thick with a cappuccino head. Aroma is roasted barley, cocoa nibs, chocolate, slight licorice, some dark fruit sweetness, and a huge malt molasses note. Taste is bitter chocolate, thick syrupy malt, molasses, vanilla, some booze, roasting coffee beans, bready, some burnt caramel. Huge flavor, a bit thinner on my tongue than some others of the style, but perhaps makes it more drinkable. Overall a great beer, love what they did with this one. A: raisin, licorice and malt. Ap: used motor oil pour with a thin dark khaki head.
T: very intense taste. Medium sweetness, slightly bitter. Alcohol prevalent. P: is a little thin for the style. O: a good beer but a few draw backs in some areas lets this one slip a little.

Very dark brown with dark tan lacing. Rich roast barley and sweet cocoa. Full bodied, light carbonation, sweet, rich malt, dry toast, touch of lactose perhaps. Dry roasty malt, fairly abrupt, boozy but still light in the mouth. Rich but one dimensional
Flaske, 355 ml. Meget mørkebrun med et stort, frodigt og luftigt lysebrunt skum. Brændt sukker. Ristet malt. Let lakrids. Appelsin-noter- Nybagt rødbrød. Fuldfed krop. Lang eftersmag. Godnat. Nidaros (40) - NORWAY - FEB 22, 2014
Vicously black with a quick failing mocca coloured head. Nose is mostly hops, dark berries, soy and leather. The tase is down the same line, sweet but not overtly cloying. Soy, leather, dark berries and some hops. Very nice and rich mouthfeel. This is for sure the best beer I’ve had from Sierra Nevada! mjs (7259) - Helsinki, FINLAND - FEB 22, 2014
(Bottle, 0.355 l - 2013 vintage, from Systembolaget, 20140222) The beer poured black. Its head was quite large, light brown and it lasted long time. Aroma had hops, roasted malts and liquorice. Palate was medium bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, liquorice, sweetness, hops, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste had liquorice and bitterness. Not an unsual imperial stout but the long aftertaste was nice: it avoided too intense burntness. olio (10265) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 22, 2014
355 ml bottle.
Pours pitch black color with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel, some roasted malts, sweetish chocolate and faint sugary notes. Flavor of licorice, roasted malts, chocolate, some caramel and mild ashy notes. A bit sweet sticky palate, lingering roasty finish. Some alcohol burn at the end, but nothing disturbing. Quite heavy stuff.
