zimbo (924) - SCOTLAND - DEC 27, 2013
Lightly dense roasty bottle nose. Really opens up in the glass. Rich malt, dark chocolate. Thick body, fairly cloying, very sappy. Quite an alcohol bitter roast end. Tab head thins leading to some light whisps of baldy lacing. Nice, maybe a bit weedy but generally fine . Still, not overly complex and a bit one dimensional.

12 oz bottle This was a gift from a friend. The stout poured a pitch black with a no head only a tan collar. The aroma was just as complex as the taste: A mixture of molasses, chocolate and licroice with exotic fruits. The taste is bold and almost overpowering. This is not for the faint at heart. The medium body stout had soft carbonation. The finish was dry and somewhat bitter.

Absolute monster of a stout. Chocolate and coffee notes at the forefront, with a hot alcohol finish. Jet black with a light tan head - delicious. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Has nice orange peel note from the challenger, medium sweetness, fairly bitter, medium-thick body, bit of a cocoa character, good stuff.

Black pour with brown head. Aroma is rich, slightly sweet, with dark chocolate and coffee. Big and boozy with dark chocolate, coffee, toasted malts. Finishes on a bitter note and lingers with hot alcohol. I dont think this is quite ripe enough.

Nice and thick as you sip it. Hints of chocolate in the nose. Explodes on the palate with coffee and dark chocolate notes. There's a bit of bitterness from the hops...very tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The Narwhal pours opaque black with an orange rim, essentially motor oil. The bouquet intermixes prunes, dark chocolate, dried figs, cherry cordials and Chambord. Absurdly rich and thick, it gives new definition to "full-bodied." The palate boasts bitter with espresso grounds, fermented fruit and chocolate bars with 85% cocoa! Admirably complex but overbearing, unapproachable. ---- instagram.com/pintofbitter
