Finally gave this a try last night. Not bad, but didnt blow me away. Plenty of coffee and decently creamy while not being too bitter, closer to a russian imperial stout. I was personally hoping for it to be a touch sweeter, but thats just what I prefer. Definitely not overly boozy... just a nice beer to sit down to the computer with.

December 18th, 2014 - The Narwhal has character, unique and pleasant, and perhaps not entirely unlike its namesake. Dark and deep, like so many fathoms under the sea, the Narwhal brags about its flavor through the nose, where jerk chicken spices express themselves up front, followed by lower, sweeter notes of barbecue sauce, pork and bacon. A finer touch of pine boughs appear in the clearing of the aftertaste, all served on a thick, floating palate. The flavor uses more licorice to develop its body, with more of the barbecue tastes appearing here, too. Neither too boozy nor too prickly, it is a deep and moderate brew with a lot of flavor per square sip.

2016 12 oz bottle. Pours black as night with a slight tan head. Nose is bitter dark chocolate, coffee, malt. Taste is similar, somewhat mild for an imperial stout. Smooth and drinkable.

A pitch black beer with a quickly settling dark brown head. Nose has deep notes of cocoa beans, espresso and roasted malts. Sweet taste at first but a very intense bitterness quickly overpowers it and leads to a lingering aftertaste. Medium carbonation and full but drinkable body. Excellent IS with just the perfect balance of malty sweetness and roastiness offset by just the right amount of hop bite.
