"Excellent! Pleasant surprise when i saw this in a 4-pack when I had assumed I’d be plunking down $8 for a big bottle. Big roasted malts on the nose, with some evergreen hops, dark fruit, cocoa, and coffee. Flavor much the same after a big but very very smooth mouthfeel. 4.1-42 on this one - I’ll start low but may up my score with a bottle to myself. Yet another hit for Sierra Nevada!"

12oz bottle. Black pour with an averaged sized brown head. Aromas of roast, cocoa, some earthiness, and a little ashy. Tastes of cocoa, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, licorice and molasses. Overall alcohol well hidden. Sammy (12995) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 9, 2012
On tap at Capone’s Restaurant. Dark brown with no head. A rich aged beer aroma. A good carbonation and full mouthfeel. Chocolate is important, coffee-like roasting is incredible. Fruity, a little syrup. Very good drinkability, no obviously booziness, other than its slight resemblance to the new Manhattans.

Bottle 355ml @ fonefanshrubber85 (11706) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and licorice. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long chocolate, coffee and bitter finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Bottle. Light ash, coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Black with small brown head. Sweet dark chocolate/caramel malt and strongly bitter herbal hops flavor. Lighter body for the style. I’ll give it this - can easily finish the bottle and don’t have to stand in line 4+ hours to get it. Solid beer.
