Might be my favorite imperial stout now. Pours with a thick head. Definitely smell molasses and chocolate. Taste includes chocolate, caramel, and molasses. FULL body! Caskalefan (168) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - NOV 9, 2012
UPDATED: NOV 10, 2012 Midnight black pour, thick tan head that dissipates to form a lasting ring.
Gigantic, deep nose of roast coffee, cacao, prunes, dates, figs, plums, and cedar shavings.
Flavor is similar with great hops in the endless finish.
Massive, syrupy body that coats the mouth with all of the above.
I’ve never been a fan of black IPAs, and this is reminiscent of those, but with the needed addition of the fruitiness, which transforms it into something amazing. davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - DEC 27, 2012
Bottle from Smith Street Cellars. Full marks. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, and hints of liquorice. Taste is sweet and bitter, with very long length. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied. Black, with an off-white head. mkel07 (6118) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JAN 24, 2013
355ml bottle from Slow Beer. Perfect wet weather for a big bold imperial stout and what a cracker this is. Pours like oil thick and viscous. Black as the ace of spades with a light milk chocolate foam cap. Knock your socks off aroma of vanilla, aniseed and coffee. Tastes as good as it looks and smells and fills the mouth with a wonderful flavour that goes on and on and on.Sierra Nevada never cease to amaze and never ever disappoint. dhunter151 (590) - Santa Rosa, California, USA - JAN 28, 2013
Tastes of coffee and molasses. The alcohol is very well hidden. Smooth and easy to drink.

Bottle. I opened this bottle and as soon as the aroma hit my nose I could tell this was going to be an epic beer!... It is Epic... an unbelievable beer! Thick and fulsome black body with a very thin brown head, Lovely syrupy crispy chocolate aroma, a very full on taste... layered with a sweet syrupy chocolate cake like taste upfront which evolves into a lovely cocoa middle and finishes with a crisp burnt chocolate finish. This beer is absolutely sublime! It is without doubt one of the best I have had from Sierra Nevada and beyond... definitely gets full marks! ladyhops (43) - - SEP 16, 2013
This is exactly what I imagine a perfect imperial stout is like. Creamy, sexy, notes of black plum and dark, dark chocolate. Rotting fruit and heavy cocoa. The head was fairly thick and caramel colored. I love the aftertaste (like chocolate aftertaste), and I highly enjoy that pouring this brew from a bottle was just as delicious as a good tap. Can’t wait to try it from the tap, though. Hop_Hedonist (607) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 2, 2013

I thought Bigfoot would always be my favorite here, I believe I found new SN fav, big malt forward aroma great toffee caramel with backbone of huge French roast. Flavor is a million bucks rich? Nice nitro like bubbles and great mouth coating finish. Superb. liquidhedonism (289) - Beaverton, Oregon, USA - MAR 22, 2015
