2013 12oz bottle.. pitch black brew... the head is dark, dark brown.. nice retention...
Big roasty elements... dark malts and some background cocoa... cold brewed beans... very nice.
The flavor is rich and unrelenting... dark roast coffee... plenty of roasted malt.. dark chocolate... just enough sweetness to bring out the malty flavors... a bit of dark currant and maybe fermented out raisin..
Body is about right... carbonation is square....
Pretty damn good... seriously.

0.33 bottle @ Hotel Borgmestergaarden
Black with a small, brownish head. Aroma of dark malts, roast, molasses, and perhaps a bit of barbecue sauce. Taste is sweet, also malty, a tad fruity, chocolate emerges, prunes make a shy appearance, alcohol can be felt ever so slightly. A full body, a thick texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is long and gets sourer and bitterer with time. Overall a great beer, relatively simple but straight to the point; does not let down but neither does it particularly impress.
December 18th, 2014 - The Narwhal has character, unique and pleasant, and perhaps not entirely unlike its namesake. Dark and deep, like so many fathoms under the sea, the Narwhal brags about its flavor through the nose, where jerk chicken spices express themselves up front, followed by lower, sweeter notes of barbecue sauce, pork and bacon. A finer touch of pine boughs appear in the clearing of the aftertaste, all served on a thick, floating palate. The flavor uses more licorice to develop its body, with more of the barbecue tastes appearing here, too. Neither too boozy nor too prickly, it is a deep and moderate brew with a lot of flavor per square sip. MavDunk (103) - - MAY 14, 2017
Pours jet black with beige head. Scent is heavy mocha with chocolate undertones. Taste is boozy cocoa and coffee. Full body. Aftertaste is warming liquor. A good but not great imperial stout.

Riktigt mörk med fast, kompakt, bruntskum. Stor rostad doft med kaffe, torkade fikon och dadlar. Mycket lakrits i smaken plus kaffebeska men även en liten sötma från torkad frukt. En mycket bra imperial stout. HenrikSoegaard (14101) - Randers, DENMARK - APR 10, 2017
