[Bottle (12oz)] Pours a very dark brown with a large lasting frothy light-brown head. Some lacing on the glass. Aroma of lots of coffee followed by roasted malt, some light hops, chocolate and lactic notes. Flavour’s the same, lots of coffee along with chocolate, light hops, lactic notes and a big coffee finish. Medium bodied. A good balance between coffee and hop bittering. I really enjoyed it.
A deep dark stout with a thick frothy lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with loads of licorice, light coffee grind, cinnamon notes, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with loads of coffee grind, musty character, light vanilla, alcohol warmth, very nice and solid after 3 years. August 5th, 2014 - The Double Latter is Sierra Nevada’s dessert course for the Beer Camp Box, brewed in collaboration with Ninkasi, and infused with the spirit of a deep, muddy French pressed coffee. The body is dark and stodgy, and stingy on the head, where a thin layer of foam sits, the color of roiled shoyu. The aroma is heavy and creamy, with the fermented soy smell of soy sauce and the astringent yet appealing, beckoning scent of espresso. Around the edges I catch glimpses of raisin and cinnamon smells to give a little swirl of spice. The flavor is less sweet than the aroma promised, but it isn’t exceedingly dry, either. The raisin and cinnamon from the aroma are swapped for nutmeg, and the oatiness of an Irish dry stout or oatmeal stout. The coffee is curiously absent, but there is a long, dripping chocolate aftertaste, a mixture of dark chocolate and milk chocolate and malt - imagine a gourmet milkdud. Lacking that bitter edge, I think this veers more towards a chocolate stout than it does a "double latte", but either make for a good postprandial course. kevinator (2893) - The Colony, Texas, USA - JAN 26, 2016

12 oz bottle from 2014 Beer Camp series. Pours nearly pitch black in color and topped by a nice layer of mocha colored foam that slowly settles to a thin film and leaves streaks of lace around the glass. The aroma shows notes of fresh cold pressed coffee, bitter dark chocolate, espresso, vanilla, and a touch of creamy milk sugar. Smells really nice. The flavor follows with ample amounts of fresh roasted coffee, bitter dark chocolate, and roasted malts with some toasted vanilla and sweet milk sugar to provide balance to all the roasty and bitter flavors. Medium bodied, smooth and creamy with balanced carbonation that leads to a lengthy bitter sweet coffee finish. Really tasty stuff and probably my favorite of this series.

12 ounce bottle from last summer’s Beer Camp mix pack, purchased 13 months ago at Holiday Wine Cellar ($25.99 for 12-pack). Pours black with some brown highlights. The two fingers of creamy mocha-colored head has truly excellent retention, actually looks like an espresso drink with foam on top. AROMA of spicy acidic coffee beans, vanilla, espresso with creamy milk or coffee creamer, and dark roasted malts. FLAVOR of dark artisanal coffee with plenty of lightly sweet milk, dark bitter chocolate, roasted nuts, creamy vanilla, and big roasty and slightly burnt malts. Moderate sweetness overall and finishes with notable lingering coffee bitterness. Despite the moderately high ABV, the lactose seems to give it a lighter body and softer mouthfeel. The coffee character is really good here and well balanced with the stout as a whole, even after more than a year of aging. Yup, from that old ass mixed Beer Camp box. Good lookin, lasting brown head, nice lace. Black. Yummy, coffee nose, chocolate. Medium, creamy smooth body with a soft carbonation and nicely oily. APPEARANCE - beautiful black, thick pour. Head is light brown & lovely.
NOSE - surprisingly little considering the coffee flavor the robust coffee taste.
FLAVOR - exceptional coffee balance and stout balance. Deep coffee flavors are slightly offset by the malty sweetness.
