COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Each fall, hops reach their peak flavor- bursting with aromatic oils that give ales layers of complex flavor and aroma that can only happen at harvest time. For us, fall comes twice a year- once in each hemisphere. This Harvest Ale features "wet" or un-dried whole-cone hops from Yakima, WA that are plucked from the bine and delivered to our brewery within 24 hours of picking.

Nice looking beer, pouring an orange body with a light tan head. The aroma is sweet caramel with pine and grapefruit. A full bodied brew, it’s a well balanced ale, the caramel backbone standing up nicely to the PNW hop bitterness, the latter lasting long into the finish. Very sessionable.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2009 Pours very bright and clear - orange/copper with an off-white head. The aroma is pungent with leafy hops and sweet malts - like grapefruit and honey. The flavor starts spicey, hoppy, and fruity. In the middle enters a lot of hop bitterness. The finish is bitter, hoppy, and fruity with a hop after-taste. The mouthfeel is full-bodied, somewhat thick, and quite bubbly. Overall, very nice. 9/30/2009 - Re-rate with 13th Release. No change in numbers - sublime hoppy and malty aroma; rich, complex, malty flavor with somewhat dry finish and excellent evergreen, citrus, resiny hop flavors; delicious.

on tap at Cruchy’s in East Lansing...wanted to mention it seemed a bit flat when i had this...copper body with medium head..aroma of piney hops exclusively...flavor is dominated by these hops, with just a touch of malts (could have added a touch more)...

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2008 Tap. Good overall but did not seem to have anything unique. I had this along with a few other seasonals which I thought were more unique than this particular offering. Updated 7/29/08...from 3.7 to 3.9. 2008 bottled version. Very nice tasting beer.

On tap at Old Chicago. Was copper color with a nice chunky off white head. Tasted like an oktoberfest with a ton of bitterness, way too bitter for me.

On Tap @ Porters Pub, UCSD. Copper poue with a nice head Lots of hops in the aroma and in the flavor, but a healthy amount of malt keeps things in balence. a great brew.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2008 On tap @ underbar chicago: pours an orange amber with a smooth tan head. Nice hop aromas grapefruit, pine, citrus, sweet, well balanced. Carmel tangerine grapefruit citrus flavors good amount of sweet to balance that piney grassy bitter finish. A very nice APA. 8/4/8/4/16 = 4.0

24oz bottle at Kan Presents: Fresh Hops. Pours an amber with a frothy offwhite head. Aroma is light, toasted touch of green grass and floral notes. Flavors of toasted biscuit malts, citrus, lots of grass and bitterness. The lasting green bitterness is solid. But otherwise not much going on. 7/3/7/3/14 = 3.4

Tap. Transparent and bold copperish-amber in color with a dense, café-frothed head riding a third of an inch high. Aroma is a sweet hop treat from heaven. Cherry wax over grahams, strawberry caramel, tangerine cobbler, green tea and lemon grass fornicating with hop leafs. Oily honey resin and amaretto over strawberry-coated oats transitions the nose to the mouth. Orange cotton blossom lightness does a nice balancing act with the semi-juicy hop enclave. Wonderful effervescence is met with tangerine and grapefruit melodies. Kiwi green hop bitterness and flavor hop spin offs produce mandarin pulp properties, eventually turning into a fruit gel that sucks the glands so they beg for more beer. Dry cotton mouth and a Downy sweet dryness activate at the corners of the tongues flap. A blast of dewed-on spring grassiness takes over in the finish.

TURDFERGUSON (4068) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - NOV 19, 2006
On tap at Tyler’s in Carrboro, NC. Was really looking forward to trying this. Was not disappointed. Huge hop aromas and flavor. Very fresh hop juice. Delish. Beautifully bitter and well balanced with a dash of sweet malts. Definitely emphasizes the hops but in a very refreshing manner. Will now compete with Bigfoot for my favorite SN product. Delish.

On tap poured a pale amber color with a nice head. Aromas of fresh hops with a good amount of malt. The taste had a bold hop profile with a nice malt balance. Overall one of the best SN beers made.
