COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Each fall, hops reach their peak flavor- bursting with aromatic oils that give ales layers of complex flavor and aroma that can only happen at harvest time. For us, fall comes twice a year- once in each hemisphere. This Harvest Ale features "wet" or un-dried whole-cone hops from Yakima, WA that are plucked from the bine and delivered to our brewery within 24 hours of picking.

22oz, 13th anniv release. Pours a clear dark reddish copper with an average beige head. Nose is subtle citrus and pine hops. Taste is caramel, lipton tea, pine, grapefruit, earthy hops. Not sure what they use, but i am guessing there are some combination of chinook, columbus and/or cascades in there. It is balanced with some semi-sweet graininess and some biscuit flavors as well. Body is medium, carbonation is medium to moderate. Not bad, but it could use some more fresh hops in the flavoring part of the boil and more dry hopping..gimme more fresh hops or gimme death!

10th Feb 2017: second beer on my first flight at Devilicious, Temecula California. Really pleased to see this on the tap list as it has eluded me on my Californian trips in the past. Amber, golden body, the head a light beige affair. The nose was fruity, piney and slightly malty. The taste followed the same lines as the aroma with caramel notes pushing through the hops: semi-sweet with a mild hop bite towards the end of each sip: liked it.

Aroma is mild fruity with malts and stern hops. Taste is fruity sweetness, light dusty malts, spices, ripe citrus fruits. Bitterness carry a bite that reminds me a little of licorice. Green and grassy notes lifts this one a little bit.

355ml bottle, packaged 28 Sep 16. Attractive deep clear amber with voluminous and persistent sudsy white head. Citrus and floral aromas with some caramel malt character. Big pleasant (and unexpected) whack of melons and floral notes in the taste, then an assertive grapefruit flavour and some caramel. The wet hops give it a really nice oily and resinous mouthfeel. Really like this IPA.

Bottle. 6.7%. Best before 30.04.17. Pours a slightly hazy, golden dark amber, with a light tan/yellowish head. Good lacing. Mild aroma; fruity hops, malt in the background. A wee bit dusty. Sweetish note as it warms, as well as a hint of overripe fruit and a light fat note. Further warming brings out a spicy hint. Flavour is fruity hops with malt in the background. Light citrus, lighter pine, a bit fat as it warms. Dry, bitter hop finish. Has a sort of a bite somehow; not an apparant bite, but still. Hint of liquorice as it warms and a mild alcohol burn. Lingering light grassy note. Overall good. 25.12.16.

Bottle from Sierra Nevada Mills River - while I can appreciate the piney hop forward mild bitterness if a good IPA, it still isnt my style. So while I think this is a good example of the style, its not my cup of tea.

Bottle from Sierra Nevada Mills River. Pours orange with a thin white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Fragrant floral and citrus notes on the nose and tongue. Solid bitterness on the finish. Definitely has a freshness to it that youd expect from a wet hop IPA. Nice! Pours

Bottle from Total Wine & More, St Petersburg. Golden amber with a big cream-coloured head. Heavy on piney hop in the scene, with some mango and caramel. Lovely and strong. Taste is quite bitter, but not exceedingly so, and there are undertones of grapey sweetness throughout. A bit of a medicinal finish but its short-lived. Lingering resin in the aftertaste. An excellent little concoction.
