Golden coloured. Big hop aroma. Full bodied, clean maltiness. Very bitter finish. I liked it! legion242 (2348) - Richardson, Texas, USA - OCT 8, 2001
Thin. Not very 'Bock'-like............................... joet (2678) - Wilsonville, Oregon, USA - JUN 9, 2001
Come on, it's a quality beer with flaws. Though surprised by the taste after tasting many German bocks, it was enjoyable as a California variant (gimmee da hops!) on the bock style. Davidw987 (23) - Livermore, California, USA - MAY 1, 2001
OK, this is NOT a classic Bock. But it was my first introduction to the bock style. Sierra hops this sucker way to much for a bock beer. But they do match the malt profile of a helles bock underneath all those hops pretty well. And you have to expect SNBC to be a bit heavy handed with the hops anyway.
My biggest complaint about this beer? It's very hard to get in the SF Bay area. Shadallion (534) - Sacramento, California, USA - APR 22, 2001
Hey Sierra Nevada, stick to the ales, because your venture into the world of lagers is a colossal failure. This beer is weak, watery, and boring. Do not touch.
