7/27/12. 750mL bottle sampled at a tasting at Grassroots. Hazy golden pour with a nice, fluffy off-white head. Spicy, yeasty aroma with touches of sweetness and pale malts. A hint of the alcohol shows through at much. Spicy, estery aspects that is surprisingly dry with a big bitter finish. I was surprised at the lack of sweetness and sugary aspects comparable to other traditional golden Belgians. Not bad. j12601 (11943) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUL 24, 2012
Bottle. Pours a lightly hazed gold with a monstrously large white head that falls steadily but without much speed. Big spicy musky yeast on the nose, lemony and lively, bright citrus, old lemon candies. Medium bodied, subtle at the start, odd after the big bold nose. Lightly sweet after a moment, then picking up a bit of warm alcohol and a hefty chunk of yeast, lots of esters. Finishes warm, more yeast and hints of alcohol. Esters and warmth, light sweetness. Interesting. onceblind (9663) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 23, 2012
On hand at Wynkoop’s United Tastes of Belgium 2012. Clear golden with a nice aroma of dusty pale malts and golden grains. Good flavor of some dusty peppery malts, golden grains, light fruity esters...kinda average now that I think of it. thornecb (5912) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - JUL 22, 2012
Pours gold into a trappist glass. Bright white head with medium retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Sweet caramel aromas. Soft with sweet yeast and caramel upfront turning to a dry peppery burn in the lasting finish. obguthr (6355) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - JUL 22, 2012
Rather pungent aroma of overripe lemon and gym socks. This isn’t good funk. Clear amber, thick puffy head. Intense, full body, somewhat hot. Overripe lemon and apples. White grape appears at midpalate, but never sweet. Vinous, oaky finish.

Bottle at United Tastes of Belgium 2012. Pour is pale yellow with a small white head. Smell is lemon peel, biscuit, spicy yeast, and citrus. Taste is citrus, tropical fruits, yeast, bread, and clove with a slight alcoholic burn on the finish. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Sipped this one while listening to Steve Grossman telling us the tale of their relationship with the abbey and its 12th century Cistercian stone. Cloudy golden color, small white head. Aroma of dust, hay, straw, light spice. Taste is similar. unclemattie (4358) - Georgia, USA - JUL 18, 2012
750mL bottle, sealed, caged & corked. White label. Pours yellow color, very active carbonation. Bright white foam. Aroma of berries, sweet malts. straw, alcohol. Tastes of alcohol, straw, fruit. Sweet Hawaiian bread character, nice balanced hops. Light peppery notes in the end. Yes, better than Duval. (Rating 3400!) ration (2238) - Tampere, FINLAND - JUL 17, 2012
