From a 750 Belgian bottle. Pours a pale, dusty gold color with a huge rocky head. Definite Belgian beautiful funk aroma, peppery spices with hints of earthy citrus. Pleasantly spicy mouthfeel with lingering citrus flavors. Excellent. Cybercat (5833) - Georgia, USA - JUL 8, 2012
Comes out of the tap a beautiful, hazy honey-golden with a fairly thick ivory white head that leaves some generous lacing. Strong aroma is quite fruity, mainly pear and banana, with hints of malt and yeast. Superb flavor has a malty core and strong notes of yeast, fruit - again, banana and pear - and more than a hint of butterscotch. Smooth, firm body has plenty of fizz and life. A truly lip-smacking Belgian that is worth a hunt. malrubius (2896) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - OCT 21, 2012
Bottle from Decicco. Hazy golden straw with lasting head. Spicy herbal unripe peach vanilla and dough aroma. Peachy vanilla fruity sweetness with very dry herbal woody finish. Perfect Belgian soft mouthfeel, which is very rare. Excellent. ronaldtheriot (1933) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - NOV 25, 2012
Sierra Nevada Ovila Golden has a thick, spongy, white head and an initially clear, bubbly, golden appearance, with hazes up, once one pours in the bottom swished third of the bottle. The aroma is very pungent, sweet, bready, and fruity, and the flavor is similar, with sour and citrus aspects. The bitterness level is pretty low, and the sediment brings in a yeasty quality. Mouthfeel is medium, and Sierra Nevada Ovila Golden finishes crisp, spritzy, and easily drinkable. The alcohol level really does not show much with this beer. Overall, I really enjoyed it and think it’s a most excellent offering. RJT

I like this one. Nice Belgian flavor -- sweet and tart. Unusually highly carbonated.

Pours a golden yellow with lingering frothy head. Aroma of sweet citrus fruits and very slight hop. Sweet but tart citrus hits the palate. Very dry and carbonation makes it very refreshing.

Yellow orange pour with a decent head. Plenty of bubbles here. Nice carbonation level. Smell is of grains and elegant fruit. Tastes rich and incredibly complex for a "golden ale". I would agree with ratebeer.com that a Belgian Strong Ale is probably a more suitable category. Lots and lots of great dry fruit to be found. Apple, banana, pear. Perhaps some lemon pepper and zest. The spice element is excellent. It’s very well integrated with the rest of the beer’s flavors. It prominent but not dominate. Great mouthfeel. Excellent beer. Best I’ve had in awhile. Pours clear golden with a large white head. Smells a bit like a saison with large bready, yeasty characteristics. Taste is bready with some yeast ester fruitiness. Light-bodied with a mostly smooth, slightly prickly texture and lots of mouth-carbonation, Sierra Nevada Ovila Golden finishes with a touch of breadiness. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - AUG 29, 2012
First off, within 30 seconds of taking off the cage, the cork popped itself off. Luckily, I was outside at a party when it happened. Pours a bright gold with a super thick white head. Aroma is bready with some honey and spicy yeast and a hint of spicy hops. Taste is strongly spicy with a hint of clove and hops. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Very fizzy carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, great. I have a feeling this one may explode if stored over time though.
