375 ml corked and caged bottle purchased 15 months ago at Select Beer Store in Redondo Beach while waiting out traffic on the 405 returning to San Diego. Pours a dark brown color with a half-finger of quite fizzy tan foam. AROMA of candied fruit (cherry, plum), Belgian yeast, candi sugar, dry spice, lightly roasted malts, and buttery caramel. FLAVOR of sweet dark fruit (plums, raisins, dates), rich toffee, spicy Belgian yeast, molasses, and bready and toasted malts. Finishes with a nice level of sweetness. The quite spritzy carbonation for such a high ABV beer adds to the flavor and palate. The very high ABV is quite well concealed. Well-executed American quad! Bottle: Clear deep brown red with light head and light lace. Caramel, roast malt, coffee, light fruit and slightly funky wet wheat. Raisined fruit. Dense but lacking the density for his style. Off dry, not sour, and medium high bitterness. Hot and lacking flesh and richness of the big Belgium ale styles. devman171 (1221) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - JUN 23, 2014
Tasted Alongside Westy’s, St Bernardus 12, Decadence, others, Pours murky brown with big carb. Aroma is big sweet raisins and dark fruits. Taste is sweet and full bodied, but the finish is fairly hot and phenolic. AirForceHops (7233) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 21, 2014
22 oz. bottle. Dark crimson pour with ruby highlight. lasting thin ring of head. Thin head with head retention. Aroma is very mild, light yeast and light plum, hints of candy sugar. OsuStu (262) - - JUN 20, 2014
Flavor is sweet and juicy. Plum is kind of tuff to find but the raisin and dates are here. Body shows a solid amount of yeast in body with a light berry hint. Secondary toasted sweet bread. The ABV is totally hidden at this point, yet still a mild ABV warming after the sip. Real nice stuff.
12 oz bottle. Pours quite dark but not quite black. Thin light brown head. Malty, molasses/caramel, fruit aroma. Great depth of flavor. Malty, raisins, dark grains. Can certainly pick up on the sweet plums at the end. Clean, slippery mouthfeel. Excellent.

Aroma: Dark fruit (plum, and dark malt); Sweet, subtle roasted malt, and solvent alcohol. flatmatt (1576) - Northville, Michigan, USA - JUN 14, 2014
Flavor: Similar dark raisin/plum flavor; Sugar sweetness, with a little tartness in the finish, then sweeter in the aftertaste. A little caramel malt. Moderate bitterness.
375 mL bottle as Abbey Quad. Pours extremely dark red with a very off-white head. Plum, prune, cherry aroma. Dark fruit flavor (plum) with toffee. It’s quite good, but it doesn’t really do anything to stand out beyond that. Dapierce17 (110) - Pasco, Washington, USA - JUN 11, 2014
Pours a dark mohagony with light tan head. Aroma is toffee, plums, and slight cherry notes. Sweet dark fruits stand out most. Chocolate undertones with plum flavor standing out. Very easy drinker for high alcohol. Flavorful.

Bottle in our appartment in Maui, acquired from Wine Corner Paia, come down brew after the road to Hana! 25/04/14. Dark mahogany brown with reddish hues topped with a good sized light tan head that stays for the show. Nose is rich toffee, yeast esters, banana chews, light spice, dark berry fruit, plummy tones.
Taste comprises bitter dark fruits, sweet tones, light booze, more plummy tones, leather armchair, tobacco, spice, dark berry fruits.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, lightly warming alcohol in the close.
Decent quad, the plums are well evident and along with the alcohol are well integrated, doesn’t get too hot.
