I have intentionally not rated this beer before. This will be my 100th rating and I figured I would use the opportunity to comment on what I feel is a grave injustice. So often these days you hear people disparage SNPA as being boring or not as big as it used to be. I think the problem lies not in this great beer, but in the "Imperialization" of craft brewing. Everything has to be bigger, hoppier, smoked or oaked or many turn their nose up at it. The mentality seems to be if it doesn’t go to eleven it isn’t worth drinking. While this bigger is better philosophy has produced some truly great beers it has also caused some great beers, like this one, to get marginalized. As I am typing this I look below at the top ratings for American Pale Ales and see a list of beers that are really examples of IPAs. How can SNPA not be among the top APAs? It invented the style for crying out loud!
OK, rant over, SNPA really is a great beer from the mouthwatering citrus aroma, to the decidedly hoppy, but beautifully balanced flavor, it is a true classic. Could it have more of everything? Of course it could, but then it wouldn’t be an APA
Has a bitter taste to me I do not like dark beer I don’t mind Heineken it not as bitter

12/25/17: 12 Ounce Bottle @ The Cosmopolitan $1 Tip playing video poker. Had this beer dozens of times, never knew I haven't rated in the past. Amber pour with white head. Beautiful hops aroma, love the aroma and taste. Nice balance of hops and malt, bitter and pleasant. Very solid mouth feel, carbonation holds well, firm going down. Overall very good Pale Ale, well done Sierra Nevada! cage.79 (28) - ENGLAND - DEC 31, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2017 355ml bottle as gift. Pours clear honey colour. Nose is malt with citrus fruit. Taste is malty, quite bitter, hops, pine, citrus. Not life-changing but pretty nice. really. This was the first IPA I discovered in UK supermarkets - stopped me drinking rancid larger a few years ago! GreenCat (216) - SLOVENIA - DEC 31, 2017
0,355 l bottle. Pours clear amber with big frothy off white head. Aroma is very malty with some caramel and flowery hop note, a bit of pollen. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter. Finish is long, pleasant spicy and grassy lingering bitterness. I expected more citrus hop character. Very drinkable and nicely rounded. wombat23 (2149) - Texas, USA - DEC 30, 2017

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2017 Colore ambrato, cristallina. Schiuma bianca soffice e persistente. Profumi non particolarmente evidenti, leggermente erbacei. In bocca è davvero delicata e ben equilibrata. Fresca e dissetante. hitemwitthehein (45) - - DEC 27, 2017

Dark amber pour with a frothy white head.Clean and fruity aroma. Some pine and hops; perhaps a little apricot and grapefruit. Taste follows nose. Excellent pale ale. Pops with fruity flavor and hops without being even slightly overpowering. Great beer between an IPA and APA.
