I have intentionally not rated this beer before. This will be my 100th rating and I figured I would use the opportunity to comment on what I feel is a grave injustice. So often these days you hear people disparage SNPA as being boring or not as big as it used to be. I think the problem lies not in this great beer, but in the "Imperialization" of craft brewing. Everything has to be bigger, hoppier, smoked or oaked or many turn their nose up at it. The mentality seems to be if it doesn’t go to eleven it isn’t worth drinking. While this bigger is better philosophy has produced some truly great beers it has also caused some great beers, like this one, to get marginalized. As I am typing this I look below at the top ratings for American Pale Ales and see a list of beers that are really examples of IPAs. How can SNPA not be among the top APAs? It invented the style for crying out loud!
OK, rant over, SNPA really is a great beer from the mouthwatering citrus aroma, to the decidedly hoppy, but beautifully balanced flavor, it is a true classic. Could it have more of everything? Of course it could, but then it wouldn’t be an APA
Butelka kupiona w supermarkecie w UK. Piwo o barwie jasnego bursztynu, delikatnie zmetnione. Piana srednioobfita, drobno i sredniopecherzykowa, utrzymuje się do końca picia. Wzorowo wyglądający pale ale. W nosie słód, lekkie klimaty ziemiste, delikatnie cytrusowe. W smaku głównie slod pale ale, delikatna chmielowosc. Bardzo pijalne, rześkie i poprawne pale ale bez wad coil (48) - - JUL 19, 2017
355ml bottle. Slightly cloudy amber colour with tiny white head. Big juicy grapefruit citrus, lemon, blood orange, tomato, floral hops, pine. DavidWoodruff (619) - Windsor, California, USA - JUL 17, 2017
Amber/orange with large dense white head. Malty aroma with citrusy notes. Nice balance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness with it being just perfectly leaning toward the bitter. Medium bodied with a moderately bitter finish. Classic American style pale ale. limbonicartbeer (105) - - JUL 17, 2017
Cerveza color ámbar corona de espuma de baja retención de burbujas compactas. Aroma a cítricos, sutil toque a dulce. Al paladar consistencia ligera, con notas dulces de inicio que se ve opacado por un amargor ligero que perdura en el retrogusto.

In terms of texture - really good. Aroma scarce and not pleasant rather lager like. Fine bitter palate but too brief and not hoppy enough.

Aroma - More malt smells with bread, cereal, caramel.
Appearance - Pours a dark gold to light amber, crystal clear and a thin white head.
Taste - Nice smooth malt sweetness, very clean, light to medium bitterness with a little floral hop flavour.
Mouthfeel - light to light medium body, medium carb with a good bitter finish that lingers around awhile.
Overall - Really good balanced American pale ale that’s just easy to drink but still full of flavour. PilsnerCommander38 (14) - - JUL 13, 2017
Bouteille 33cl. Couleur ambrée-cuivre, bulle fine.
This is the beer that started it all for me. The classic, no, immortal pale ale by Sierra Nevada. Fresh and crisp. Slightly hoppy. Easy drinking and still a perfect little glass of heaven. When in the future they look back at beers evolution, this will be the one that is bookmarked as starting a movement.

bread, cereal, citrus, herbs, pale, cloudy, white foam, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, lightly sour, medium body, slick feel, average carbonation, bitter, long finish, bitter, BrewWhatIWant (211) - Ontario, CANADA - JUL 9, 2017
Pours dark amber with an off white head. Aroma is citrusy with a bit of pine. Taste starts a little sweet, then gets a little bitter and finishes with tangy citrus. There are notes of orange, lime, grapefruit, a little pine, and a touch of malt in the background. Medium bodied with lots of carbonation. This only recently became available in my area. I didn’t think it would live up to the hype, but it could easily be my beer of the summer.
