Ovanlig porter, men god!

Pours dark brown from the bottle. The large tan head is foamy, and rapidly settles. The aroma is milk chocolate up front, but underlayered with tinges of way overripe plum. The taste starts lightly bitter, metallic, with notes of chocolate, charcoal, and light tartness. Finishes with a bitter sour taste that leaves an overall one dimensional impression. Also unimpressive is the body, which is a touch thinner than I would like. Combined with faint hints of alcohol and a charcoal ash flavor, the brew left me feeling thirsty. Reading this back it all sounds pretty dire, but it’s not an entirely bad beer. It’s very finishable, and the aroma is nice, but there are a lot of flaws here.

Pours a dark brown, no real hop aroma, more coffee and roasted malt. Kind of sweet and rich. Really liked it.

Dark almost invisible brown color with small but strong latte foam. Smells nice roast malts. Taste are roast malt with some kind dark chocolate and a bit vanilla. Maybe a bit watery. Aftertaste are medium some dark bred with small notes of cinnamon. Not bad as porter.

Mortlach (2347) - Rome, ITALY - JAN 16, 2017
330ml bottle bought @Eataly (Rome) with Pippi. Bruna, impenetrabile, schiuma color cappuccino molto persistente.

Bouteille 35.5cl, V&B Grenoble.

Luneylane (192) - Taipei City, TAIWAN - DEC 24, 2016
A bottle from City Super in the basement of Sogo at Zhongxiao Fuxing, drunk at home. Aroma: chocolatey with rather disappointing vinegary notes. Appearance: opaque, dark chocolate, minimal tan head. Palate: medium-bodied, rather thin, soft carbonation. Pleasingly roasted malt finish, regardless of the somewhat sour aroma. Taste: medium, falls between bitter and sour. Not bad.

Dark brown color with amber at the edges. Light tan head of thin foam. Light chocolate and caramel notes with a roast character in the slightest, a very lightweight porter of both sound and substance.
