12oz ’stubby’ bottle into English pint glass. Clear dark brown pour with off-white head. Aroma of roasted/bready malt sweetness, some chocolate and some hops. Taste is pretty much the aroma, maybe some added nuttiness and caramel. Medium body, oily and dry. Really good straight forward porter, should grab some more for after-work sessions.

From Nov 2006 Poured from 12oz bottle an extremely dark brown bordering on black with a huge tannish head of foam that grew after pouring. The foam finally settles down but remains in the glass as a solid layer with lacing. The smell has a lot of roastiness to it with a good nose of chocolate. The taste fits the smell to a T. Loads of semi-sweet chocolate hits my palate with a nice roasted malt flavour hanging around in the background and that leads to a bit of bitterness in the finish. That's one tasty Porter and it's so drinkable. Bottom line: Great sample of the style that no beer lover should miss trying!

A nice porter. I'd drink these for lunch if I was in England. Would it be too much to ask for a little more nose??? I want the richness to meet me before my lips reach the glass. Thanks. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
