UPDATED: OCT 7, 2016 Pours black with a big stable light tan head and lovely lacing. Rich aroma of coffee, chocolate, toffee, dark bread crust, hints of prunes and wood. Perfectly balanced taste. Coffee-like texture, medium body and carbonation, somewhat sticky finish. Wonderful!

Roasty chocolate aroma some hops and oats. Thin head which mostly dissipates. Toasted roasted flavor, prunes, chocolate, hoppy, maybe even a slight medicinal black licorice. Very complex and flavorful. On the hoppy side, but thats to be expected right? I like it a lot. Less than 6% wow badass stout.

Sierra Nevada delivers again, their porter used to be my favorite but it has some competiton from their stout. Speaking of their stout it pours a dark black body with adequate carbonation, a thick tan head that disapates fairly quick and it leaves good lace. Aroma of toasted malts and a slight hint of fruit. Flavor of chocolate hits first, then the toasted malts creep in with fruits present in the background. The mouthfeel is slightly bitter and it has a dry finish. Overall a pretty good stout, another good beer from sierra nevada. Originally rated on 10/17/08

355ml bottle into pint glass. A little coffee and chocolate on the nose. Dark brown beer with tan coloured head. Surprisingly tingly mouthfeel. Earthy, chalky, dark chocolatey finish. Late bitterness. Nice stout.

Bottle at bar. A matte black drink. White curtains but no head. Coffee and dark malts dominate. Bitter but well tasting. Clean palate and mouthfeel, slightly watery like coffee. Good
