3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured this beer into a trumpet glass from the bottle to drink. It had a rich black color with a dark brown hue, and a big dark tan foamy/creamy head with average retention, good lacing, and excellent cling. The beer had a sweet malty chocolate aroma with notes of coffee, caramel, and nut, and also a toasty earthy hops component, and a slight smokey effect. Its taste was a sweet chocolate/caramel malt flavor with some toasty hops giving a slight smokey bitterness. It had an average-density body with a slight syrup effect, and was slightly dry, though a touch creamy with average carbonation and life.
UPDATED: SEP 15, 2017 Næsten sort i glasset. Fin skumtop.
335 ml bottle. Pitch black with a creamy lightly tanned head. Roasted aroma with coffee, caramel malts, chocolate, liquorice, a subtle smoked note. Herbal hops and citrus. Taste is bitter roasted. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and roasted bitter with dark malts. Very fine Stout. hbiermann (4) - - SEP 6, 2017 does not count
Light flavor. Kinda nutty. Great appearance with good foam and nice lacing. Flavor was fine but nothing super special. Did not like the smell.

2015 BJCP Category:20B American Stout
AROMA: Strong hop presence of pine, resin and slight citrus (seems a bit too hoppy for the style). Moderate dark malt presence with some coffee character (I’d prefer more maltiness). 8/12
APPEARANCE: Very dark brown hue (39-43 SRM); large tan frothy foam. Retains and laces well. 3/3
FLAVOR: High hop flavor and bitterness throughout. Citrusy up front with more dank resiny/piney flavor on the back end. Base malt is dark but not particularly sweet, though there is a coffee and roasted malt taste on the finish. Seems a bit too hoppy for the style; needs more malt flavor. 14/20
MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body; medium-low carbonation. Smooth, though hops and roasted malts leave a slightly drying aftertaste. Feels a bit lighter than 5.8% ABV. No alcohol presence. 4/5
OVERALL IMPRESSION: A West Coast style stout bordering on Black IPA. Good, but is it really to style? 6/10
TOTAL SCORE: 34/50

Bottle shared at hopaholic. Deep brown colour small offwhite head. Nose is strong cocoa. Taste is low bitterness low sourness. Lingerig cocoa aftertaste. Nice! Bebum (1036) - Massachusetts, USA - MAY 29, 2017
Dark copper, tall brown head.
Coffee nose, intense.
Full body, creamy texture, full flavored, soft, well carbonated, low heat mouthfeel, good length, clean finish.
Bitter, dry, gentle acidity.
Dense coffee flavor, as if mellowed by cream like latte, dark roasted grains, somewhat smoky and ashy.
Tasty, big but not massive stout, well balanced, a pleasure to drink if you like it dry.

Birra dal colore marrone scuro. Schiuma beige, fine e persistente. Al naso sentori di caffè, malto tostato e crosta di pane nero abbrustolito. Al palato si riprentano le stesse note percepite al naso. Una buona stout. Nevalainen (809) - FINLAND - APR 28, 2017
The color is black with beige creamy head, looking nice. Aroma is little roasty, coffee notes and touch of toffee. Taste is well balanced with bitterish start and dry sweet finish, flauvour of coffee. Very nice stout.
