12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. The beer is a nice golden amber color with a nice white head perched on top. The aromas are bread, grass, and citrus. The taste is bready malt and bitter hops, but not biting. Very nicely balanced overall. This is another tasty brew from a great brewery. JamesCory (54) - Wheeling, Illinois, USA - JUN 1, 2011

Aroma: Grapefruit mixed with grass and a little spruciness. Hops dominate the aroma, as they should.
Appearance: Medium brown, with nice amount of head, some cloudiness, and a little activity in the glass. Overall, and interesting looking brew.
Taste: Definitely hoppy and bitter, but smooths out towards the end to make this one of the more drinkable IPA’s I’ve had.
Palate: Lively carbonation, medium body.
Overall: It’s beers like this that are starting to make me reconsider my aversion to IPAs.
Bottle shared by my father-in-law. Pours a burnt amber with minimal white head. Aroma is moderately full of grapefruit and spruce. Flavor is juicy, lots of citrus along with some spruce and a touch of caramel. Lingering orange juiciness. A logical next step after SN Pale Ale. theyshookhands (249) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAY 21, 2011
Pours reddish-gold with a light tan head. Aroma of citrus and herbal hops. Very smooth taste with a strong hop finish. Tastes very fresh and clean. russj117 (5) - Utah, USA - MAY 20, 2011 does not count

When money is tight, Sierra Nevada is definitely my go to brewery. Almost as widely distributed as Sam Adams, but ultimately a big step up in overall quality. My rating is not really compared to other IPAs but more for the middle tier between macros and true microbreweries. Medium bodied and crisp. Floral hops in the aroma and taste. A true classic. Pours amber with a big head. Notes of bready malt with light citrus that drives a deeper hops flavor with a very balanced malt driven back bone. Not the typical style that I like in an IPA but I REALLY dig this beer. bierslaaf (105) - Somerset West, SOUTH AFRICA - MAY 17, 2011
Reddish pour from bottle with a solid rocky head you can’t beat down with a stick. Mild hop aroma with some sweet malts. (I think the whole aroma is hidden under that solid head) Balanced mildly bitter taste. cubs (10714) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAY 16, 2011
Bottle @ home. Dark orange appearance with a creamy, light tan head. Fairly piney/earthy hops and medium bitterness in the nose. Pretty malty body with a slight citrusness to the hops but they’re more earthy and hoppy with a bitter finish. bdunhill (255) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAY 16, 2011
This IPA has a hoppy aroma and pours golden brown with a HUGE head. It has a bitter taste with a full body finish.
