Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2010 Cloudy orange-reddish-copper pour with a pretty nice fluffy white head that leaves lots of lacing rings. Unexpectedly, the sweet malt aroma is the first thing I noticed. Caramel and bready malts are accented nicely by loads of citrus hops. Flavor is more grassy than the aroma, but still bursting with citrus hop flavor. Slightly herbal, almost like tea. Malt flavor is doughy, not as caramel-centric as it smelled. Mouthfeel is very lively, maybe a little too carbonated. Very balanced beer, not too sweet and not just a hop bomb. Very easy drinking as far as IPAs are concerned, but Im not sure I understand why its considered one of the best out there.

Celebration was my go-to beer of the 80s-early 90s, and Torpedo eclipses it. Beautiful honey/amber color, creamy, but sprightly body, super-complex aroma that is even juicier than Celebrations. Citrus rind, grapefruit, resin, apricot, strawberry jam, apple, pepper, and just a touch of ashyness in the long, earthy, spicy hop finish.

Bottle. Thin off-white head, amber-copper body. Juicy malt, plenty of grapefruit hops. Pine and herbs. Citrus. The biscuit and alcohol coming through, followed by strawberry jam and apricots and finally fruits. Nice bitter flavour with some sweet notes. A bitter dry finish, moderate carbonation. Basically just a"bigger" version of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

12 oz bottle. Pours a nice amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is mostly hops. Not as hoppy as I imagined it would be. There is a good hops flavor but something just seems lacking. Not a bad beer by any means but not great either.

Sample from my brother law Bobs cooler. A nice golden pour with big aromas of hops and grass. Flavor of citrus, pine and grapefruit, all in a magnificent blend. Really good.

The beer pours a nice orange color with a cream-colored head. The aroma is very fruity. I get a lot of papaya and mango, but I also get some bready malt notes. The flavor is also very fruity. In addition to the papaya, I get some orange citrus. The beer is very juicy tastings. There is a little bit of bready malt. Low bitterness. A nicely balanced IPA that has a ton of fruit flavor, but not too much bitterness of malty sweetness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
