UPDATED: JUL 4, 2014 Re-rated after oh so many years. Tested in a free for all against Ska Modus Hoperandi IPA and Founders Centennial IPA. Pours cloudy orange amber with a finger of white head. Standard nice IPA. Aroma is a bit subdued, but with citrus, grapefruit and pine notes. A touch malty as well, but not much caramel or fruit beyond that. Taste is bitter and light at first, followed by light fruit notes before a rich long bitter finish. Body is light and smooth with soft carbonation, a touch too light on the palate. A nice golden amber colour with lots of off-white head and good lacing, a nice looking beer. Malt and citrus aroma, all be it mild. Pine and citrus ho kick nicely balanced with the malt. A nice beer. jmm635 (1018) - Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 27, 2011
Poured a burnt orange color with a fluffy white head. Piney hops dominate the nose. Taste is bitter but balanced by a sweet caramel malt. I like it. oobawa (2014) - Tennessee, USA - APR 25, 2011
Man oh man, when I first tried Torpedo a couple years ago, I absolutely hated it. Hated it. I thought it was the most evil concentrated Cascade hop assault upon my tongue every launched, and I damned Sierra Nevada for scouring my mouth with such oily, resinous IBUs. Now, I’m older, twice as jaded, and I’ve learned-- well, shit-- that Cascade hops aren’t used in Torpedo. And you know what? This IPA is tasty. Still piney as hell, but the Citra hops give a nice grapefruit-zest twist to the initial funky hop rush. The malts offer their token appearance, and succeed well at blending into the periphery as bitterness blazes about your palate. The finish bows out in a graceful display of grainy malt and sandpaper-dry Magnum hop madness. Not the greatest IPA, but damn solid, a wonderful "at-least-they-serve..." companion to Ol’ Greenskin itself. rejtable (2957) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 24, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 31, 2011 Very solid beer! Very strong hop presence, and a little like Dogfish 90 has a good malt base as well. Hopsbring maybe grapefruit with a touch of pine/spruce. Smells of pine for sure.

That smells so good! Pungent grapefruit and spicy pine with underlying sweet crystal malts. Similar to the signature aroma of SNPA but perhaps licked up a notch. I think I’m going to like this one... Lightly hazy deep golden-tan body is topped by a fluffy, meringue-like, white head that sticks to the sides of the glass and coats it with lacing. Head lasts throughout. Flavour follows the aroma with grapefruit and strong bitterness offset by a strong caramel malt flavour. Sweet but never cloying; aggressively hopped but not overwhelmingly bitter. Really well done. Mouthfeel is smooth with soft bubbled effervescence. Want more please. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle purchased at Brewery Creek in April 2011. UPDATED: APR 25, 2011 Bottle. Pours clear amber. Aroma is heavy pine and citrus. Fruity, dank flavour. Finishes is very dry hoppy and bitter. Simply a great IPA NoBeer4MyDog (14) - West Camp, New York, USA - APR 19, 2011
12 oz. bottle pour. Pours an amber color with an inch foamy tan head. Initial aroma is not really overly strong. Slight hops, pine, and floral hints. Taste is not as bitter as some IPA beers. Again subtle hop flavor is overshadowed by the malt in my opinion. I think this beer’s flavors would definitely be better on tap. An average IPA . iabeerguy (392) - Iowa, USA - APR 19, 2011
Really happy I tried this beer. Aroma of pine, citrus, and hops. Nice white head. Flavor is creamy, a little pine/citrus mix, great hop flavor! A little bit bitter but not overly. Really nice beer! Jesterdeal (1985) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - APR 14, 2011
Aroma of pine and cedar. Beautiful light orange in color with a big frothy head. Taste of pine with a subtle bitter malt. Great showing from sierra.
