Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

ALLOVATE (3089) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - FEB 1, 2011
Bottle, into a straight wall, cool but not cold. Orange copper body, shows mild haze but still shimmers in the light, almost oily looking. Fine, intermittent bubbles gives it life, the head a mere shadow of white atop, no legs. Big, bright, herbal, weedy and citric hop nose, heaps of tickling spice, fresh baked apple-teacake comes to mind, rose petals and pine needles. The aroma is quite potent, really tickles the olfatories but does keep a sense of freshness to it. In the mouth well pronounced pine, pineapple and passionfruit flavours dominate. Good, solid toasted malt and crystal base, earthy, herbal back, quite raw and tight like the hops are still floating in it. Assertively bitter but in check, a lot of juicy fruit floats about the mouth. A hint of camphor and Turkish delight in the swallow which drops off quickly and quite dry, the alcohol not evident. Residual pineyness and sucked toothpick flavours keep it dry until the next sip. Reasonably light in body, well rounded and smooth in mouthfeel. Just got better as it warmed, the flavour really fuses together. Dangerously refreshing stuff. (35,5cL, no date stamp, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

Wolfenkopf (193) - Villa Park, Illinois, USA - FEB 1, 2011
There is a strong malty, hoppiness in the aroma that is quite appealing. The head is fluffy and white, but dissipates in no time to a mere few millimeters along the top. Tendrils of the white are left on the glass. The substance of the brew is the expected amber. The taste is comprised of as much malt as it does hops. It is bold and even, lacking only in that certain something that sets it apart from brilliance. A solid and most enjoyable brew, it lands on the palate with its bitter hops backed by a demure amount of carbonation. The aftertaste remains balanced between malts and hops, demanding another swig. Enjoyable to the last sip, if not lacking a definitive hook.

Prokroustis (745) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - JAN 30, 2011
UPDATED: DEC 8, 2011 Amber, with a big rocky head. Spicy, grassy, somewhat sweet and a lot citric aroma. Nice easy drinking with medium carbonation, grapefruit and other fruits along with a dry bitter finish make it an excellent IPA. (8/4/8/4/18) Dark amber body with a small white head. Exceptional hoppy aroma with pine, grapefruit and some caramel. Full body, heavy bitter and dry flavour. Excellent.

Copper colored beer with a decent, white head. Strong pine aromas, you can tell this will be nice, and hoppy. Tastes of very distinguished pine/spruce. Big floral hops here as well. Your typical IPA with a stronger than average hop kick. Bitter finish, solid beer in this style.

All in all an excellent IPA. Pours from a bottle reddish amber with nice head and long lasting lacing. Hoppy aroma, bitter flavor and finish. One of Sierra’s best brews.
