Pours a clear medium/dark brown body with a frothy off-white head.
Caramel malt aroma with just a touch of hops.
The flavor has some light roast malts with a slight underlying hop bitterness.
A very nice brown ale. JStax (7314) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - SEP 3, 2010
As much as I wanted this beer to be amazing, it was a bit of a let down. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed this beer a great deal, I just feel that it could have been better. Pour is a deep brown with a thin trace of a head. Almost no carbonation. The most noticeable aspect of the taste was a taste of burnt malt. This gives the beer an extra heartiness that may have otherwise been lost. There is not much of an aftertaste. Even though this beer is not one of high alcohol content, it is still complex enough to be a sipper. It’s worth buying the six-pack if you can find it. cbkschubert (2901) - BFE, Arizona, USA - SEP 3, 2010
12 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a clear light brown color with a one finger thick light tan head. Light spotty lacing. Aroma is cramel malt with hints of smoke. Flavor is slightly astringent caramel malt. Finish is kinda dry and thin. A decent beer. ronaldtheriot (2021) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - SEP 3, 2010
Sierra Nevada Tumbler has a thick, beige head and a clear amber-brown appearance. The aroma is sharp, but not strong, and there is a spiciness to it. Flavor is of deep-roasted barley malt, it does have a decent hop bite to it underneath. Mouth-feel is light, and this ale finishes satisfying and refreshing. Overall, this is an outstanding brown ale, even though there’s nothing here I have not had before in this sub-category.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark amber with an off-white head; lighter than expected. Aroma has light roastiness with coffee. Roasty flavor with coffee and toasted grain. A decent brown ale, but not a lot of excitement here.

Pour is a nice looking brown with a large white head. Aroma is a nice roasted malt with a little chocolate lingering in there. Flavor is the same a nice roasty with a chocolate malt at the end. Better than average brown ale. Trev (2023) - Lakeville, Minnesota, USA - SEP 3, 2010
pours a ruby brown with a medium off white head.
aroma is nutty malt. some woody hop.
flavour is more nutty roasted malt. very light caramel tones. Balancing bitterness is woody and herbal. jrob21 (3878) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - SEP 3, 2010
On tap at the brickstore. A nice seasonal malt forward beer with a big of roastiness and some chocolate notes in the background. A decent sweetness coats your palate. The finish though is a little off and works into this cardboard sort of texture and taste that is not entirely appetizing. solsticebrew (61) - USA - SEP 2, 2010
Bottle, Honolulu. Clear brown in color with foamy, light tan head. A solid, safe beer. Not much up front, some hints of bitter chocolate and slightly bitter on the back, but not the usual SV over hopping. I enjoy this beer and it will be good in early autumn when it is still a little warmer. zebracakes (1339) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 2, 2010
Bottle. Pours hazy reddish brown, off white head Aroma is malty, tangy, and hoppy. Flavor is nutty, roasted, caramel, slightly smoky with some hops grassiness. A very refreshing brown ale.
