Sierra Nevada Tumbler is a clear, red-brown ale with a bubbly light khaki head that has excellent retention and lacing. It has a dry, wooden aroma with a green, botanical note. It’s medium bodied, soft and smooth with a dry, crisp finish that leaves the mouth a little chalky. It tastes well balanced, resiny and nutty with a green, leafy bitterness. It’s very smooth and drinkable. BeerFanDan17 (1121) - Brunswick, Maine, USA - AUG 24, 2010
A solid brown ale from Sierra Nevada. Fresh notes of honey, light coffee, and caramel. Slightly sweet, but not overpowering. BREWMUSKCLES (2698) - New Jersey, USA - AUG 24, 2010
aroma of a bar, and that’s not bad! coating of wood and spice like cinnamon but without the cinnamon flavor. malt, a bit sweet and a light dishwater with lemon soda wafting in and out. tastes brown and that aint bad either. a hard catagory for me to enjoy. Bottle from Binny’s in Orland Park, Illinois: This pours a clear chestnut body with a respectable off-white head. The aroma is caramelly, a bit roasty, with an earthy bitterness. The flavor is much the same with mayhaps a dab of molasses and the earthiness becomes more pronounced. The finish is a soiled wood bitterness. Once was enough.

Poured an espresso brown, nose was a little nutty with hints of shoe leather and cigar paper, taste was not good, almost smokey, hints of sweetness, but no body to support all the weird flavors. drjay44 (3742) - Salida, Colorado, USA - AUG 24, 2010
12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium off white head, of good duration, with a bit of lacing, over a clear, brown (SRM 30) body....nose is heavy malt, with cereal, light chocolate/cocoa, bit of caramel/toffee.....taste is rich malt, slightly sweet, with cocoa, chocolate, finishing with mild, lingering bitterness.....mouth feel is medium, carbonation medium. This is a good Brown Ale. BJCP 4/3/15/4/7 DocLock (10745) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 23, 2010
Pours clear brown with 3 finger off-white head. Nose is roasty smoked malt, corn flakes, backup hops, earthy. Tastes munich malty, somewhat marzeny/viennaish, with a definite smoked malt undercurrent, some hops, and some earthy notes. A decent late summer/autumn beer. malrubius (2930) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - AUG 23, 2010
12 ounce bottle from Trader Joes, Fairfield, CT in pint glass. Brown with lasting head and some lace. Toasted caramel yeasty aroma. Roasted caramel mild plummy fruit brown sugar and very mild smoky ash. Pretty damn good for a brown ale, but begs the question: Why? Tmoney99 (14632) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 23, 2010
Bottle. Poured clear dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted sweety malt and smal hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew that I would recommend to a freind.
