Draft - Vintage 2011 - Dark fruit, brown sugar, brandy, much like a Barleywine. Cloudy orange red with a thin white head. Plums, raisin, brown sugar and sweet booze. Little burn in finish. On tap at Milltown: Pours a soft rich burgundy and brown with a brief light tan head. Wonderful aroma, notes of fig and prune with raisin and a ton of other dark fruits. A touch of alcohol shows through along with wood and some brandy. Dark fruit dominates the flavor, very rich fig and prune with some barrel and alcohol warmth. Draft at Milltown on Carrboro day/ block party. Deep mohogony with no head and a thin lace poured into a 12 oz lager style glass. Nose shows lots of barrel and quad characteristics which marry well if you like sweet dark fruity beers. Very sweet, molasses, peanut butter, vanilla, lots of dark fruits, oak, and caramelized sugar. Very good and relatively dry for the style (minus the strong barrel characteristics which seem to be responsible for the majority of the sweetness. On tap at the Moth. Dark brown pour with an off-white head. The aroma has a ton of brandy and red wine in it, with not too much else going on. The flavor is similar. The brandy character is huge, but there is also some dark fruit and brown sugar. I get a hint of oak, but the brandy and red wine notes are what really comes through. Very alcoholic. Draught. Pours a hazy and very dark amber color with a smallish head. Nose has a lot of wine and brandy elements to it. Super smooth taste - the aging really takes the sweetness from the yeast out of it. Excellent brew.

Clear deep dark brownish amber with a lovely nose of brandy, sherry, dark fruits, and dark maltiness. Flavor has some dark port tones of cherry an fig and booziness, but also a dark malty woodiness that’s delightful yet not cloying. Some brandy barrel tones and candi sugar throughout. Tap. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark sweet fruit and woody alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark sweet brandy flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex brew.

Poured a dark murky brown at the Brass Tap aromas of bourbon, fresh baked coookies, and vanilla. Flavor is all bourbon upfront, bourbon in the middle and bourbon at the end. I dont taste any of the quad qualities that I was expecting. Also bar board listed this at 12.4% abv, not the 10.4 listed above. Pouring at the Night of the Barrels on the Friday night of EBF 2012. Pours a deep brown with a thin to medium bodied beige head. Boozy sweetness right away. Dark fruit, wood and brown sugar. Medium bodied, sweet and syrupy. Boozy but still rather tasty. Long sweet booze and caramel on the finish.
