Black with a light brown head - aroma of roasted malt - tastes the same, roasted malt , hints of smoke and ash, hints of hop bitterness in the background - finish of roasted malt - nice beer ricke (476) - Malme, SWEDEN - NOV 11, 2009
Dark brown with a rather small off-white head that settles into a fine ring of lacings.
The smell is quite mild with a gently smoky and caramel-like maltiness to the fore. Notes of charred wood, chocolate and just a hint of smoked ham. A dash of floral hops raps it up. I like the smoky aromas, but all in all, the smell isn’t very impressive.
The taste is actually quite boring as it is basically a milder replicate of the smell. Malts dominate with notes of dark bread, charred wood, caramel and a hint of toffee. Slightly roasty. The smoky aromas are very muted and not as prominent as in the smell. Some decent floral hop notes. Flavors are rather sweet. The finish is short and bland - a gentle bitterness mixes with some notes of malts and leafy hops.
Moderate body, medium carbonation.
There’s nothing in this beer that makes it interesting. The combination of smoke and chocolate in the smell is promising, but the taste don’t live up to such a promise. There’s nothing wrong with it I guess, it’s just boring.

Dark. Low head. Sweet fragrance with a fruity nose and som sour undertones. Not so smoky, but rather fresh in its flavor, like pears, chocolate, soffee and hops of course. the bitterness is far from overwhleming, but balanced in a innovative way with fruit and alcohol. deflagro (106) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 10, 2009
Bottle. Dark brown with rather small head. Smell is quite roasted and a bit acidic with a sooty note. Taste is pleasantly sooty, almost a bit smoky and heavily roasted with some acidity and some sweetness. Low bitterness. Really nice, but not extraordinary, schwarzbier. yespr (47002) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - NOV 6, 2009
From tap Bishops Arms. Pours hazy dark brown, dark brown head. Aroma is roasted malty, light yeasty fruity. Roasted and coffeeish flavoured with a light acidity. Dry and bitter flavoured. Lingering roasted malt flavoured finish.

Draft. A deep red beer with thin brown head. The aroma has strong notes of roasted malt, soy sauce, and wood. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of soy sauce and wood as well as medium notes of nuts, bitter dark chocolate, prunes and a bit of fruits, leading to a dry roasted and woody finish HenrikSoegaard (14443) - Randers, DENMARK - NOV 3, 2009

500ml Bottle - Black in colour with a tan head. Roasted malt aroma with coffee, plain chocolate and some faint smoky hints. Roasted taste with coffee, chocolate and some very light smoked hints. Very enjoyable and it has lots of body. Nice and smooth and easy to drink. Linnet (1890) - Karlstad, SWEDEN - OCT 25, 2009
Deep black colour, small tan head, lacing. Aroma is heavily roasted and a bit acidic, coffe and smoke. Flavour is rich, roasted, coffee, smoke and with a nice bitterness. Mouthfeel is smooth with small bubbles. This is really good! Sigtuna is very much an up and coming brewery at the swedish micro brewery scene.
