It’s red-brown with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of nuts, roasted malt, caramel, and the flavor has a light sweetness and a light roasted bitterness with notes of roasted malt, caramel, nuts, burnt sugar and a touch of licorice towards the roasted finish. Quite nice! anders37 (27062) - Malmö, SWEDEN - DEC 30, 2012
Bottle. Pours a dark amber ruby color with a longlasting off-white head. Has a fruity malty bready caramel aroma. Fruity malty caramel flavor with bitter chocolate hints. Has a slightly roasted malty caramel and chocolate finish with bitter hoppy hints. 7stern (659) - Bromma, SWEDEN - NOV 26, 2012
Dark amber with small head. Roasted, sweet aroma. Hints of chocolate goes well with the moderate hopping. tfredvik (2032) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 23, 2012
I wish I’d tasted the Sigtuna Vinterlager together with this one, and not yesterday. Right now I feel like I’m drinking the same beer once more, but I’m sure there are some differences… It looks quite different though: the Dunkel Lager is dark copper and the small, frothy and very light-brown head are gone in no time and leaves little lacing. The moderate aroma is roasted with caramel, mild coffee and hints of ash. The taste is light sweet and light to moderate bitter, I guess the Dunkel Lager is a bit less bitter than the Vinterlager. Roasted flavour profile with coffee with fruits and berries on top (more fruity than the Vinterlager). Nice mouthfeel, although I got some vague metallic hints in the first few sips. Dry texture, especially the finish is dry. Soft carbonation. Senap (747) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - NOV 17, 2012
[33 cl bottle, enjoyed 2 months before the handwritten BB date (isn’t that craft beer-ish?), from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]

Aroma: The smell is brown bread crust, nuts, bitter oranges, wet grass and a mossy earthy nuance.thewolf (12801) - Kolding, DENMARK - OCT 28, 2012
Appearance: The beer is dark brown red black ... a tan head, high and foamy, settling and leaving much lacing. Small curtains.
Taste: Starts very sweet, brown sugar, toast, roasted malt, dark dried forest fruits, bitter oranges, grape-fruit peel, some nettles.
Palate: Medium carbonation, small bubbles, soft and foamy feeling, slightly oily with a dry finish.
Overall: More taste and pleasure then expected from a dark lager, for me at least.
Note: Bottle 330 ml. Reviewed 2011-09-19.
