UPDATED: JUL 18, 2012 multiple bottles. made with cornmalt, so I guess fitting in with the classic American lager more than vienna, but whatever. really quite interesting, flavorful and well-balanced, from first sip to last. striking malt cleanliness with a wonderfully toasty corn kernel and barley and wheat malt character; minimal yeast but what is there is doughy and adds to the richness. clean semi-sweet flavor of toasted grains and just-caramelized honey, and the bottle conditioning provides a firmness and denseness which with the light body is well-suited. flavorful rigid malt, moderately hopped, pillow firm carbonation, light, low hop-rate... sticky and snappy but never too big or sweet. a malt showcase. superb! and from the bottle! would love to try on tap but never found it. 5.2% toasty firm / full carbonation bottle-conditioned lager. there’s a balance reached in this beer that NAILS it for me. reminds me of Ayinger Jahrhundert. god damn I love lager. ernie and jeff your bottles await you! gyllenbock (9184) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 23, 2010
