Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a deep black with a thick tan head. The nose is awesome. Caramel and cocoa with a bit of soft smoked malt and a touch of saltiness. There is a little bit of plummy fruit character through the middle. Soft sweetness on the palate with some nice fudgey character. A little bit of soft cocoa with a nice light roastiness. Damn tasty beer. terrybail (704) - London, Ontario, CANADA - APR 7, 2014

(Bottle) Black colour with lasting, rocky, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, dried fruit (figs, raisins), liquorice, black rye bread and hints of orange peel. Malty, roasted taste with notes of black coffee, dark chocolate, cacao, liquorice, black rye bread, dark fruit, some vanilla sweetness, hits of burnt sugar and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Not quite as powerful as the stronger 2011 version, but a bit more balanced, actually in excellent balance. Lovely beer. thb (829) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 24, 2014
Inky black, mocha foam (thinnish). Aroma is lots of chocolate, toast, leather. Taste pulls out the same plus a lot of fruits - blackberries and the like. Sweet, bitter in balance. Lots going on, lots of evolution throughout the sip. Good.
