Cunningham (7946) - Halden, NORWAY - JAN 5, 2013

Appearance: Black colour with a big creamy beige topp. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Frutiy, dark malt and slightly sour.
Palate: Medium to full body. Slightly sweet and a moderate bitterness.
Flavor: Nice complex flavor. Fruity and grape hoppy, with some roasted malt and chocolate.
Overall impression: Nice black IPA with a well hidden alcohol. Just felt it had a bit unpleasant and unbalanced sweetness
Location: Bottle from a trade with rlgk

jesperhammer (4735) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 12, 2012
12-DEC-2012, bottle @home, from Systembolaget, present from Erik. Very dark brown with huge fine "grained" head lacing the glass. Roast and hops aroma, more to the hoppy grassy side than the roasted. That is just opposite on the taste. Hard roasted, burnt malts dominate. Citric grassy hops on top of that. Quite creamy with soft carbonation. Lovely but a bit rough drink.

Tide (3880) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 7, 2012
Bottle from Systembolaget. Black color, beige head. Roasty, bitter taste with citrus, coffee, hops, pine and alcohol. Roasty finish with coffee. Good black IPA.

faroeviking (10910) - FAROE ISLANDS - DEC 5, 2012

omhper (25095) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - NOV 24, 2012
Bottled. Black with rich, firm beige head. Aroma of citrus and pineapple with espresso behind. Mid sweet with near full body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Concentrated flavours of tar, licorice and citrus. Potent warming finish with earthy licorice and long bitterness. A well made solid beer, exploring the borderline between two newly invented styles - imperial porter and black IPA.

pilsnerrogge (2945) - Finspång, SWEDEN - NOV 24, 2012
Pours black with a large and thick head.
Aroma is hops, biscuts, licorice, dark currants and a little bit of smoke.
Hoppy and bitter flavour with notes of dark currants, pine and shampoo leading to a long and warming finish.

yiannnos (1254) - , CYPRUS - NOV 19, 2012

greenclansman (906) - Nicosia, CYPRUS - NOV 19, 2012
Black black black coloro... Roaste malts and chocolate aromas with a hint of hops. Once you taste it, you get a small bite from the hope...then a big sweetness from the malts, with a dry bitter aftertaste from the roasted malts. Not what I have in mind for a black ipa, but a very nice and complexed beer. Thanks to yiannos.

hackobock (4029) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - NOV 18, 2012
Bottle from Systembolaget. Black with a dirty one inch head. The aroma consists mainly of roasted malts, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, ash, raisins and some faint hoppy fruitiness, not near as one expects from an IPA. Taste is sweet balanced by a bitterness both from the hops and roasted malts.
