Pours nearly black, with brown edges, and a brown head.
Spicy, roasted aroma, with quite a lot of resiny hop notes, grapefruit, spruce, caramel, chocolate, coffee.
Off-dry, medium to full bodied, high bitterness, creamy CO2.
Hoppy, roasted taste, spruce, grapefruit, ashes, grass, chocolate, coffee, tobacco.
This one balances somewhere between a “proper” Black IPA and a hoppy porter. You could wish for a little more punch in the hoppiness, but the balance as it is now makes it all the more drinkable. (2012-09-25)

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2012 Totalt svart men med brunt skum. Doftar kaffe, nötter, choklad, citrus och russin. Smakar kaffe, kakao, bränt socker och rostade nötter. JanLaursen (3227) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 13, 2012
Bottle, 33 cl. Unclear brown with a huge beige head. Fruity nose with grapefruit, light licorice, caramel and roasted malty notes.
At first amazingly fruity and wellbalanced, but after a few sips I realise that this is actually a little too sweet for my palate. After a short while hops are descending and the finish becomes a little too sticky and malty.

Bottle: Thax to Mr.Rask: Black colour, with a brown head. Aroma is dominated of sweet maltynes, parfume, citrus, flowery and caramellynes. Flavor had a nice creamy mouthfeeling citrus and flowers, cinemon, caramelynes, dry hopycitrus bitternes. Medium body and a medium malty/fruity fnish. LoFi (1748) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 8, 2012
Very dark with dark beige to light brown head.
Aroma: creamy, roasted, light oats, something else I can’t place.
Taste: lots of licorice, dark wine gums, dark chocolate, some burnt sugar, some kind of tropical fruit, but overall quite light in the hoppiness, medium bitter with pine in the finish.
A much debated beer. I would have hoped for a hoppier beer for sure. But if we disregard the style and whether it is a bad example or not, this one tastes nice. gnoff (10859) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 4, 2012

Very dark brown color, medium sized, dense, lasting light brown head. Hoppy, herbal, citrus, roasted, chocolate scent. Hoppy, bitter, a little bit sweet, not much balanced taste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, though I feel it lacks some co2. Roasted and bitter aftertaste. High bitterness. Almost have a chili sensation to it too, right at the end of my throat when I swallow it.
Medium brown head. Opaque black body goes deep dark red at
edges. Dense fruity alcoholic roasty aroma with earthy
chocolatey notes. Impressive harmony. Dry-sweet roasty earthy
fruity taste with perfumy red berry chocolate notes. Mid-bodied.
Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel. Dryish earthy gooseberry
aftertaste with roasty chocolatey dusty fruity notes. Lovely.
Amazingly harmonic and seductively smooth. A great beer.

Bottle. Dark colour, almost black, with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Slightly sweet, bitter taste. Heavy, almost like a porter.
