COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

olio (10339) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 27, 2012
33 cl bottle.
Pours dark red, almost black color with a small head. Aroma of ripe fruits, hops, caramel, malts and some pine needles. Flavor of hops, fruits, some ashy chocolate, mild caramel, licorice, dark toasted malts and some orange. Very nice aroma, but the taste is quite not equal. Nice though.

Maria (10211) - Thisted, DENMARK - OCT 10, 2013
It’s black with a creamy nougat head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, dark fruits, ashes. The sweet flavor is soft (lovely mouth feel) and yet pleasantly bitter with notes of roasted malt, licorice, fruity hops, dark fruit, dark chocolate, a touch of ashes, and the finish is slightly roasted, dry and bitter. Really lovely black IPA.

Towering, beige, dense irregular head, very slowly collapsing over practically black beer. Chocolate, dry hopbales, and also quite distinctly thyme and a hint at rosemary. Bitter-roasted-burnt, if nowhere ’over the top’ - very pleasing. Black chocolate with roast - ashes. Suddenly a new flavour which is quite kafir lime(leaf) like. Well-bodied, if not really thick. Gristslickness, even a bit dusty. Surprising - in the good way! Many thanks to Stef!

gyllenbock (9275) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 11, 2012
Bottle from Systembolaget. Almost black with a large tan head. Aroma and taste of rosted malt, ash, licorice and some coffee. Also some light notes of "milk". Not much hops in this one. It reminded a lot of a porter, Black IPA? No, no!

Svesse (8613) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - NOV 17, 2013
(Bottle) Black colour with huge, lasting, pale brown head. Malty, roasted, hoppy nose with notes of coffee, liquorice, dried fruit, soy sauce, black rye bread and citric hops. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with dark chocolate, liquorice, cocoa, soy sauce, black rye bread, citrus peel and a generous citric bitterness. Quite powerful and very tasty black IPA. Very nice.

laiti (8481) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 27, 2012
33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 30.04.2013
Aroma is somewhat light with resin, some vanilla, porridge and hints of fruits. Flavour is rather rich on resin. Also licorice, hops and some ash. A black IPA high on hops, reminds me of Amager Double Black IPA – but this one isn’t that aggressive.

Cunningham (8069) - Halden, NORWAY - JAN 5, 2013

Appearance: Black colour with a big creamy beige topp. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Frutiy, dark malt and slightly sour.
Palate: Medium to full body. Slightly sweet and a moderate bitterness.
Flavor: Nice complex flavor. Fruity and grape hoppy, with some roasted malt and chocolate.
Overall impression: Nice black IPA with a well hidden alcohol. Just felt it had a bit unpleasant and unbalanced sweetness
Location: Bottle from a trade with rlgk

Marduk (7902) - Reval, ESTONIA - OCT 21, 2012
330ml bottle. Pitch black color, medium size tan head, stays. Coffee, licorice, malty, roasted and some hops in aroma. Hops, coffee, milky, some nice bitterness in flavor. Smooth and very easy to drink.

lusikka (7814) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 27, 2012
330 ml bottle.
Pours a pitch black colour with a creamy beige head. Aroma of rich roasted malts, English toffee and some herbal notes. Flavour of roasted malts, grassy hops with some floral notes, raisins, salty licorice, dark chocolate and some bready notes. Medium bodied, oily mouthfeel and a roasty, quite bitter finish with mild fruitiness. A good black IPA.

Bottle. Dark colour, almost black, with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Slightly sweet, bitter taste. Heavy, almost like a porter.
