Tap@ Peppersack . Poured mahogany color with a thin white head. Some caramel, sugars. Flavor has sweetness, sugars, mild bready. Awful. jookos (6762) - FINLAND - JUL 12, 2014thirstyrabbit (1849) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 11, 2014
From tap to PET bottle in Elav Õlu. Bottle label has 5,7%. Dark brown body, medium to small head. Aroma has medium roast with some nuttiness. Good thick mouthfeel. Taste has medium roast with something salty. Not dry and ashy like most of the Schwarzbiers I know are. With its fruity, nutty and sweetish finish it’s actually closer to a Dunkel. Simple and drinkable but doesn’t offer anything special. VereTipsu (42) - ESTONIA - FEB 7, 2014
A nice dark beer, one of Estonia’s finest I’ve had so far.
The head is a nice brownish color, although it dissapates fast. The smell is a full blowout of caramel, malt, molasses and some notes of alcohol later on. The color is ruby red with backlight, black otherwise, which is just perfect for this type of beer.
The taste - take some sweet malts, add a bunch of molasses and some caramel, then mix with an aftertaste of chocolate and a hint of fruity undernote.
Overall, a very nice bready feel to it, would love some Maasdam or Lacey cheese to go with it. The full taste, and sweet aroma compliment each other and make this a moment in live one should truly enjoy.

Keg. Deep dark copper color. Medium size head, diminishes into tiny one. Sweet, caramel, peppermint?, raisins and plums in aroma. Mild roasted malts, grainy, faint hops, caramel in taste. Crisp on tongue, but smooth to drink overall. Watery texture.

Deep brown reddish color, small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and caramel. Dry sweet taste has caramel, roasted malt, grain, burnt sugar, some dark fruits too, light hoppy bitterness in finish. Medium body and average carbonation. JoeMcPhee (9426) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 2, 2011
Deep amber pour with a little bit of light sweetness and a touch of toffee as well. Sweet and caramelly. There is a little bit of sweet fruit and maybe a touch of light tartness. Medium-bodied and quite tasty.

Fairly rich sweet caramelly aroma, and pretty roasty too. Some dry dustiness too, quite dense and heady. Deep brown, healthy tan head that takes a long time to settle to just a ring. More a dunkel than a schwartz in look. Crisp carbonation, smooth sweet body. Lovely smooth sweet roasty taste - caramelly. Hops very gently, but pleasant. Finish pleasantly hoppy, very fresh buddy hops. Full and fresh - good one Sillamae - make this more often!

Not quite so expressive an aroma, some nice caramel, something a little stale. However, it’s lovely in the mouth, a real rich roast, some burnt toasty corners. Maybe to "light" - it’s super quaffable and easily sessionable, not saying it’s 5.8 at all. Good stuff, no doubt.
Draught (Õllesummer 2008,Tallinn) - Dark brown in colour with some red tinges.Fruity, malty and slightly roasted aroma The taste is fruity with raisins and a moderate bitterness. Fairly nice and very impressive by Estonian standards. larsniclas (7075) - Billdal, SWEDEN - AUG 2, 2003
Dark brown with an creamy head.
Quiet lively beer with a malty cereal flavour.
