Whoa whoa whoa! Why all the hate for this beer? The only thing I see as a detraction is it is quite thin but that also makes it more refreshing. Way underrated. Has an old English ale appeal. Sweet but not too sweet and the bitterness balances it out perfectly. Great for pairing with almost any food. Aroma caramel, light smoke, Ruby color. Great flavor with a little funk and a dry finish. Tasty killer beer. JoeM500 (1908) - Crown Point, Indiana, USA - OCT 3, 2002
Really deep copper, almost brown look with 3/4 inch of rocky, dense head. The nose is bursting with sweet fruits and roasted nuts. Starts out with an acidic bite that dissolves into a nice mixture of sweet and sour tastes that tickled my tongue.A doughy end lingers. Very refreshing... I’m finishing the last sip and all of the head remains. (this is the 5% version) A really great beer! yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 14, 2007
Tasted 14/11/2007. 25cl bottle from Regional wines and Spirits. Pours bright, a reddish amber with large, long-lasting off-white head. Lovely aroma of toffee, old-fashioned oranges and a little spice. Delicate. Boiled sweets, toffee, and more of those oranges dominate the mouth up front. Mild bitterness and a nice little hint of peppery spice out back, with a fairly big hit of blood-like iron. Balanced beautifuly. Very different from the other Saisons I’ve tried. Silky smooth through the mouth, and well-balanced right through into after aftertaste. Another smooth operator from Silly. Sometimes I felt like George Orwell wrote a sentence just for me, and other times I feel like a beer has been brewed just for me... this one is nearly up there in that league - with Scotch Silly, Duchesse de Bourgogne and Liefman’s Goudenband. Better try it again, to be sure.

From bottle. Brown, cloudy. A very sweet beer, with a slight acidity in the finish to balance it. Lots of caramel. Fruity. Very good for a sweet-tooth like me. yannickh (16) - on, BELGIUM - FEB 2, 2013
Draft @ Vlaamsche Reus, Wageningen. Wow. Very pleasant surprise. Dark amber pour. Okay head. Citrus, fruits, malts and other sweet notes in the aroma. Very refreshing taste. Citrus, malts, bitter notes, and some hints I can’t place. Overall, very good. Want to try this one again. Danev76 (505) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 7, 2014
Very malty aroma. Cloudy brown colour with excellent head. Malty flavour with hints of caramel in the finish. Medium body with low carbonation. AceOfHearts (1374) - Mountain View, California, USA - NOV 23, 2002
Amber, transluscent, long-lasting head. Very nice smell: faint strong-hop aroma, reminiscient of a USA west-coast IPA but not nearly as overbearing. Slight spiciness in the flavor combined with a very well-balanced sweet maltiness. Delightful complexity, excellent sweet finish.
