COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged for several months in a Heaven Hills Kentucky Bourbon Barrel, Fat Scotch Ale takes on a very distinct and pleasingly warm bourbon character. A vanilla-like oak note adds a mellow richness as well.

22 oz. bottle, courtesy of Prufrockstar (thanks Chris), pours a dark mahogany with a tiny beige head. Aroma brings out smoke, bourbon and wood upfront, with caramel malt and dark fruits. Flavour is complex, with loads of bourbon, wood, and light smoke, with caramel malt in the back. Finishes with bourbon and a mild alcohol tingle. Not too sweet, but definitely a slow sipper. Excellent stuff.

Draft - Sweet boozy whisky notes with some chocolate. Deep jet dark brown with. A small brown head. Tons of booze and bourbon notes. Too much bourbon sweetness for me.

Dark brown. Big nose of bourbon, vanilla oak...a little peat and dark fruity malt. Has faults where the regular and okaed versions did not. A touch overbarreled with juuust a hint of astringency. Still ok, but lowerst rated of the three by a couple points.

Bottle:   Dark copper, nearly black, deep brownish hues, moderate to large foamy beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Big peaty nose, but followed by a strong Bourbon presense, graham cracker and vanilla.   Similar on the tongue.   Barrel aging dominates over the base.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, albeit fairly slick.   Finishes with more of a Bourbon flair than it does a Scotch Ale.   Enjoyable, especially if you like Bourbon.   Clean, with an underlying Scotch Ale that is very soft.   Enjoyable for sure.

Bottle at Liquid Sunshine. Brown, soapy head. Vaguely apple vanilla, astringent. Floral, deep caramel, butterscotch. Nice, tasty.

Big huge bourbon nose, like lots of bourbon, caramel toffee dark brown bread and vanilla. Pours dark brown, off white head. Flavors of big bourbon, vanilla, brown sugar, caramel and toffee, wood notes, spicy alcohol. Smooth big sweet bodied beer. Lingering boozy alcohol. Lots of bourbon. Interesting.

Near black with ruby highlights. Thin creamy yet initially fuzzy head. Very dark fruit forward, light vanilla, malt. The dark fruit is intense and enjoyable. Very nice brew.

Bottle courtesy of Prufrockstar - thanks Chris! Dark amber brown pour with a nice tan head. Really awesome nose on this one, bourbon toffee vanilla and, of course, malty sugar goodness. Taste is nice, containing the flavors I was smelling, but somehow watered down - thinner than the nose would let on.

Pours a deep dark brown with a wispy tan head that dissipates rapidly, and almost no lacing. Smell of peat, bourbon, and burnt toffee. Taste is strong, thick, peat, bourbon, and malts. Ends strong and a little tangy.
