UPDATED: MAY 22, 2015 Bottle (22oz): 2013 Vintage but bought 7/2014. Mahogany color, pretty clear. Very smooth. Sweet, bourbon, sticky. If in the mood for that, this one is great. I like this better than the "woody". nealblind (1979) - Seattle, Alabama, USA - JUN 11, 2013
Update : (2014 vintage): Just as good as before. Great desert beer.
Slightly translucent brown beer. Aroma of lactic & whiskey & caramel. Very smooth mouthfeel! Super malt flavor and woody caramels. A bit too sweet, but has a pleasant milky mouthfeel. CampesinoTino (800) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 12, 2014
Bomber of 2013 Vintage. Dark reddish brown pour topped with a layer of tan foam. Notes of bourbon, caramelized sugars, dark fruits and charred oak in the aroma. Taste is caramel malt, vanilla and bourbon upfront along with some black cherry, toffee and molasses toward the end. Mouthfeel is a tad syrupy with low carbonation and a final shot of bourbon in the finish. Overall, a satisfying bourbon enhanced version of Fat Scotch. Near black with ruby highlights. Thin creamy yet initially fuzzy head. Very dark fruit forward, light vanilla, malt. The dark fruit is intense and enjoyable. Very nice brew. mcberko (19227) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 11, 2014
22 oz. bottle, courtesy of Prufrockstar (thanks Chris), pours a dark mahogany with a tiny beige head. Aroma brings out smoke, bourbon and wood upfront, with caramel malt and dark fruits. Flavour is complex, with loads of bourbon, wood, and light smoke, with caramel malt in the back. Finishes with bourbon and a mild alcohol tingle. Not too sweet, but definitely a slow sipper. Excellent stuff.

Bottle, recently released but with "2013" on the label. Pours clear dark cola color with no head. Aroma: vanilla, dark fruit, cherry and caramel. Pretty similar to the Fat Woody aroma, but with more vanilla. Taste: vanilla sweetness, warming alcohol, practically no hop presence. Sweet (not that I expected any different), but nice all around. Palate: Medium-full body, average carbonation, oily texture. Overall: I’m a sucker for these Silver City scotch ales. Part of this is nostalgia, but also they’re just nice beers. This version doesn’t hugely alter the picture -- think, Fat Woody + vanilla -- but that’s fine by me. This is a great one for the hop-averse who like something sweet and boozy. Expect to finish this one pleasantly buzzed. Bacterial (3060) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - SEP 20, 2014
Bottle courtesy of Prufrockstar - thanks Chris! Dark amber brown pour with a nice tan head. Really awesome nose on this one, bourbon toffee vanilla and, of course, malty sugar goodness. Taste is nice, containing the flavors I was smelling, but somehow watered down - thinner than the nose would let on.
